As we entered the living room, Joy rushed over to hug me and wished me a happy birthday. I hugged her back and told her how happy I was that she wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. Looking around the room, I saw Alpha Conrad, Luna Maria, Ian, and someone I hadn't expected, McGrath's middle child, Gavin.
Squealing with delight, I ran to Gavin and threw my arms around him. "Oh my goodness, Gavin. I am so happy to see you! I thought you were at university in Scotland. Why didn't you tell me you were coming home?"
Yes, Gavin was a nerd just like me. He graduated last year at the age of fifteen. We worked on many projects together and were the best of friends. We video chatted weekly while he was away. We shared many of the same values, especially regarding respecting the mate bond.
