***** Lucas kept up the cool façade right until the end of his shift. After saying goodbye to his colleagues, he grabbed his car keys and hurried out, still in his uniform. His hasty exit garnered lots of comments along the lines of “Where’s the fire?” and “He must be on a promise,” but he didn’t care. He’d have to explain his actions the following day, but he’d deal with that then.
