After realizing that Gerard was threatening her, Anna politely declined by saying, "Oh, well, that's very kind of you, sir. But you don't have to do that."
Gerard wasn't angry about being refused and just put his hands in his pockets. Still, he didn't seem to be leaving. He said, "Well, my friends call me by my first name. So, you don't have to call me 'sir'. You know, it's too crowded in here. Would you like to join me for a drink at a bar?"
