Wayne was shocked with his eyes and mouth wide open. He then smiled radiantly and exclaimed, “Matthew, you spoke!”
He had not heard Matthew speak a word since that high fever three years ago. This was the first time in three years he had heard Matthew’s lovely voice. Staring at Wayne with expectation, Matthew held onto the book tightly.
It took Wayne a long time to compose himself. At the thought that Matthew might be envious after seeing Anna and Tammy together, Wayne felt guilty.
Back when I decided to have a child to satisfy Grandfather, I was young and stupid. At that time, I did not consider the consequences thoroughly. Matthew, I love you. And I should have offered you the better life you deserve. I should’ve known that having your mom around you matters to you.
