Our Story part 1
(Betty-Ann) Immediately after James left, I found myself staring at the door. I don't really know why. Maybe I was hoping he'd come back, maybe I was hoping he'd choose me. No, that would be wishful thinking. It's impossible James would ever choose anyone over Sophie. Then, suddenly, the door opened and I unconsciously got a bit excited. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment as Nick entered the room. "Oh Nick, it's just you." "Nice to see you too. Yeah, I'd love to take a seat thanks for the offer" he said. "Look, I'm not in the mood to be courteous right now," I said. "I know, James and you broke up for good this time," he said. "Yeah" I quietly sulked. "So how are you feeling?" He asked. "I'm fine" I forced a smile "Eh. wrong answer, lucky you have one more try," he said playfully. "Nick, I'm really okay. The two of us knew this wouldn't work out," I said. "I guess that's true, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Come on B, we've never known each other since we were in diapers. You can't hide anything from me" he said. "I know," I said "Then I'll ask again, how are you feeling?" I took a minute to think about it and Nick was right, we've known each other for many years. If there's anyone that would empathize with me, it would be him, especially since he dated one of them himself. "It hurts Nick. It really hurts" I cried as years started to run from my eyes. "Why did he choose her? Why couldn't he choose me? I loved him too. I loved him just as much as she did," I cried as he pulled me into a hug. "I know, B. I know" he tenderly hushed me as he ran his hand through my hair. It seemed like I had burst open the flood gates because I couldn't stop crying on his shoulder. "I'm ruining your shirt". I sobbed "It's fine, I have plenty. You can cry all you want" he said as he pulled me into a tighter hug. After crying a river on Nick's shirt, I eased back and wiped the tears from my face. "Are you feeling better now?" He asked with a charming smirk. "Yeah, thank you for the shoulder" "Anytime," he said "And I promise I'll get it cleaned for you" "No, it's fine, it's just water, it'll dry. I'll just walk around shirtless till it does. I have been looking for reasons to show off my sexy body" he said, getting me to chuckle. "What's so funny? I'd have you know that people say I'm very sexy." "Yeah, who?" I burst out in laughter. "Girls, lots of girls. Lots of really pretty girls" he said defensively. "And yet you're sitting alone on Christmas Day." "Hey, I'm alone because none of them are the ones I want to call me sexy, plus you're not doing any better yourself." "Well, I just got dumped." "Let's see, dumped on Christmas and pining for someone who loves someone else. Well, aren't we a couple of pathetic losers" he gave a sorrow-filled laugh. "Well, this is rock bottom" he added. "Huh-uh, do you remember when we were cool kids?" "Seems like a past life," he sighed. "Yeah, when did we become like this?" I asked. "When life became a bit too real for us" he answered, "You know I actually said that I was going to have a drama-free year. I guess that was wishful thinking. It's funny, right?" "Well, I promised Sophie I'd be a better boyfriend," he said. "Wow, now that's funny". I chuckled "Okay, okay enough with the petty party," he said. "Why? We have nothing better to do", I scoffed. "I guess you're right, but come on. We're Betty-Ann and Nick. We should be out having fun." "You do remember what our version of fun used to be, right?" I looked at him as if he were crazy. "You're right, let's not go back down that road again.' "Yeah," I said "So what do we do now?" He asked. "I don't know. I think it's time, my mind is telling me to move on, but-" "Your heart is telling you, you can't," he said. "Is that why you're still chasing after Sophie?" I asked before he smirked. "Well, you do you, but I'm done with this Sophie James drama." "Come on it wasn't that bad", Nick chuckled. "You really think so?" I gave him a queer look. "I mean at times it was tiring, but overall it wasn't that bad." "What was it like?" "Huh?" "Dating Sophia, what was it like?" "Like a normal relationship, I guess. It had its ups and downs, much of which was my fault, but we were good. At least that's what I thought until school started to come around. "What happened? Oh yeah James" "As much as I'd like to blame Taylor, we had been fighting for a while before school even began. I still remember that day."
