Hayden turned when the door to Jake’s office opened. Noah Jasper stepped inside. Hayden had met Noah the day before and learned he’d been instrumental in the local investigation into the shifters here. Noah was to bring him to the county jail to meet with his uncle, Theo Jasper. The Jaspers had relatives in Montana, namely Carl Jasper, who’d led Jake to Theo.
Jake was deep into whatever he was doing on his computer and barely nodded at Noah’s entrance. After a long silence, Noah turned to Hayden.
“You’ll get used to this with him,” Noah offered, gesturing to Jake. “He ignores pretty much everything and everyone when he’s working.”
