Midnight Moon

Prologue

                I feel someone shake me. "Princess, guess what today is?" My daddy whispers in my ear.

              I smile internally knowing that he is talking about my birthday. It's the most exciting day other than our sixteenth birthday where we shift for the first time. Today, I get to meet my mate. I am hoping that he will be as loving as my dad is. It's true that a daddy's girl always looks for the qualities in her mate that her father has. And for me it's no different. I want my mate to be as hard working as my dad. I want him to want a family and a big one too. 

           "It's my birthday!" I excitedly say as I stretch.

             "That's right, princess but I was thinking that we could do our tradition since it's probably going to be the last time we get to do it." My dad's face contorted into sadness. 

             I know that this is going to be hard for him. I am going to meet my mate with any hope today. I think that there is no way I could miss my mate today since three different packs will be here. When a member of the higher ranks, like I am Delta Mark's daughter and I am turning eighteen, that means it's a special occasion.  So, our allied packs come in the hopes of me being their mate. I am actually hoping that my mate will be from my pack the Blue Crescent Pack because I don't want to leave my friends or family.

           I am my parents only child. They tried so hard to have me so when my mom got pregnant with me, they had decided that if this pregnancy lasted then they would be happy with just me. And they did just that. They are really intentive parents. They went to everyone of my softball games and was at every play and musical I was in, They are the best parents a girl could ask for. 

              "Don't be sad daddy. I am always going to be your little girl. I am just going to have a mate." I try to comfort him, letting him know that no matter what he won't lose me. I am always going to need my dad.

            He perks up. "I know you will be. But I am telling you what if your mate hurts you in any kind of way. I will make his worse nightmare come alive." He tried to act all serious but I know he is protective so he means it
