Chapter 14

Footsteps shook me from my remedy and it turned from the view and continued towards the dorms full there was a cart sitting outside the storage facility and late looked to be well stopped so I grabbed it. It would save me more time on having to waste when I was already late. Eventually the dorms came to view and the door on either side of the white wide well lit hall. The number started at 500 and of course I started working down I would expect nothing less than to be assigned the furthest possible rooms. I sucked in my sigh, tucking my chin to my chest while I pushed ahead with my cart. If there was anyone in my path they were going down. They would have to get their asses out of the way or else. Luckily I didn't encounter anyone till I made to room number 5 without incident don't stop I didn't bother to pause and check the name. I didn't care which spoiled sacred demigod resided within. Not unless they were going to write me into their will and leave me a bunch of tokens when they died so that my mother wouldn't have to pull stop Best not to think about s*x for token favour so early in the sun cycle. Save the hard thoughts for after lunch. I knocked on the door waiting a few moments without an answer before pushing inside. Wow these rooms were even nicer than I had expected toll ribbed glass windows displayed a warped mirage of the mountainside past the arena to the back of goodwill. I didn't actually know what was beyond the Academy beyond the mountain. I left the cart at the door stepping over the scattered clothing and dropped books passing by the massive bed with ornately carved matching bedside tables. I passed it all without blinking reaching the glass and walking alongside the windows my fingers tracing the rippled surface. It followed along the entire length of the room ending in a small attached sitting room separated from the bedroom my eyes stone archway. Shelves line the walls 2 stuffed armchairs facing the glass. Glass which wasn't rippled anymore. I guessed stepping into the room with the hands pressed against the window. Beyond the mountain was nothing. Miles and miles of nothing. More mountains and keeping and reaching piercing the skies with uneven peaks and some of them even appearing white capped there wasn't even a discernible rude viewing through the mountains. I felt my nose bump against the glass and knew that my breath was fogging up just the same way the mist was fogging up at the base of the mountains in the distance. I had never seen anything like it. Anything so fast and empty all at once. It was technically nothing but no more cities settlements towns at all. But it was everything and it was beautiful and proudly formidable. That was where I belonged. In the place of unforgiving empty terrain. But for now there were beds to be made. I pulled away from the window rushing back to my cart. I actually had no idea what to do. We had been given our assignments but no real instructions to go along with their assignments. I supposed most dwellers new how to clean properly though because most dwellers weren't me. I hurried and meet the bid punched dashi back into the pillows and picked everything up of the floor. I didn't know where to put any of it so I just tossed it all on to the freshly made bed. There were a big bunch of cloth bags in my cart with labels for me to put on each bag so that made laundry easy pull there was even a list stuck to the top of the cart something I only noticed after moving the basket of supplies that had been covering it. The locations are the laundry rooms assigned to each hallway of the dorms were listed along with the room numbers of the resident dwellers task with ordering new supplies. I have finished with the first 3 rooms in record time but I was slowing down by the time I got to the 4th. I had suffered 3 stubbed toes one near concussion and an accidental rag to the face because apparently jumping up and tossing a wet rag at the glass wasn't the best way to clean the window. My shirt was damped with sweat and soap and my hair kept dragging into my eyes and the whole in my pants had reopened. I was starting to wonder how I was going to survive a full day of this let alone a lifetime career out of it. I didn't bother to knock on the door this time because red had been right the dorms had all been empty so far so the Demi gods were having arena practice. I pulled down the handle and turned around pushing the door open with my **** while I walked backwards dragging the car since I had lost most of the strength to put it in front of me like a normal person. “No its fine come right in,” a deep voice drawled making me freeze. I had a moment where I thought it would be a good idea to pretend I hadn't just walked into someone's dorm room to pretend I hadn't heard them clearly admonishing me and to pretend that I had a sudden unexplained change of heart so I slowly started pushing the card forward instead of pulling it backwards I didn't stop until the door closed behind me and then just stood there my internal organs threatening to explode with panic. The doors swung open behind me and their hand landed on my shoulder and arm shooting out to grasp the handle of the cart and before I knew it both myself and my cart went back inside the room and the door was shutting beside us full Wrong room is quick to keeping my eyes fixed on the door. Maybe if I didn't look at him he wouldn't look at me and then I would just forget his face and I would never be punished for this. “You mean wrong hall may be?” He asked walking away from me. I still didn’t turn. Instead I just listened really hard. I couldn't tell where he was standing anymore but I could sense he was still somewhere. Well obviously because he didn't exactly jump out of the window. “Dweller?” “Will you reassign me?” I blurted, spinning around and immediately wishing that I hadn’t. He was sitting on the end of his bed and he appeared all too familiar with his glittery green eyes smoking to black around the very edge of the iris and the messy textured hair coloured in a melt of blood and ochre. “Reassign you?” He asked with an arch to a one single dark brow. he wasn't quite smiling but he was obviously amused. Why me? That was all I could think. Why? Why! I swallowed carefully. And other Cursor brother. The last one. He looked just like Cronas the pain gifted demigod who had tried to kill me both appeared slightly older than the other 3. Yeti, Silas and Amor the one who had apparently some kind of seduction gift I didn't even want to imagine what kind of Demi God I was now standing alone with. It was too much for my mind is cultivate little mind. I was going to have a breakdown and start screaming obscenities at any moment. Stood then because I wasn't obviously uncomfortable enough. I stumbled back a step my eyes stretching even wider. He was huge. Massive. Like a freaking giant. Or a mini giant at least. Cronas had been big too but this was something else. Cronas looked like he tossed around trees for fun bedroom number 2 looked like he ate trees for breakfast. You don't happen to have a real happy sunshine gift do you? I stammered falling back yet another step. Like flowers or butterflies? I was forced to let go of the card the card was on its own now. You mean like nature or bestiary? Corrected. Because flowers and butterflies aren't a real gift. Yeah right. Nature or bestiary except bestiary sounds scary so it scrap that one. Just knee cheerful easier gift nature related? No. He trained his teeth flashing his cheeks dimpling. Explain mind momentarily blown. Aren't you supposed to be at the arena? I was mostly just keeping him talking now so that he wouldn't notice me back in towards the door They don't let me train with the others. I keep crushing them. So that’s your gift then? Is squeaked. Crushing? I couldn't believe I was having this conversation with a Demi God alone in his bedroom let alone have this conversation at all without a whip cutting across my back. His smile disappeared and he jumped into motion backing me into the door much faster than I had been backing myself into the door. strength he whispered pressing a body against me that kind of felt like a giant boulder. Or brick or house. Or maybe a Stone Mountain. Strength is my gift dweller and I am not going to reassign you so start cleaning. He was off me instantly pulling open the door hard enough to send me sprawling on the ground. He then slammed it shut hard enough to knock my broom off the card. It hit me in the back of course. Strength I mocked picking myself up off the floor and kicking the broom away full clean my room slave! Or I will crush you like a bug because I'm a big strong demigod! I was working myself up a bit. I realised that I just couldn't seem to prevent it. Yanking the door open I leaned out and peered down the corridor. I was pretty happy to see that's number 2 was definitely no where inside because I definitely would have tried to kick his ass and definitely he would have someone's soup in morning. I glanced to the top of the door on the outside reading his name. Dron Cursor. I pulled the rest of the way out to room number 3 and looked at the top of the door. Amor cursor. With a feral sounding growl catching in the back of my throat I glanced at the other 2 rooms that I had already cleaned. Yeti cursor and stylus cursor. I didn't even bother looking at room number one. I knew what it would say. My luck was just that bad. Cronas cursor. The guy with the crossbow. “Motherfuc..” I paused my tantrum on the verge of spilling out when a dweller pushed out of room number 8 his cart pulled behind him. He blinked that me his mouth falling open and I recognised Gerritt. You are a recruit! He accused his voice a haze as he moved closer. You are a boy! I returned a dose of horror shot into my tone my finger raised in a point. What are you doing in a girl’s area? He had a moment. He totally had a moment. I could see it all over his face before you realise that he had just finished cleaning the who's that he always cleaned and then the confusion and descended. What are you doing in a meal dorm? Exploring my sexuality. I leaned against the card propping my elbow wiping my expression into something neutral. How am I doing? I can see your n*****s. Your shirt is wet. My elbow slipped and I almost toppled over but my chin caught against the age of the card. I knew the boobs would be a problem I groused rubbing the pain out of my jaw. I knew it. I tried to tell her but she wouldn't listen to me. Red. Remember? Talulah…. grumpy one? Oh yeah she kind of looked up tight. She is not. Really? Okay may be a little. Do you have a shirt I can borrow? May be a cap? May be some pants? And a fake mustache? Neckline he laughed glancing down the hall before looking back at me. You seriously got assigned to their dorms? The leader of our village gave me a boys name on the form. think they will reassign me?
