The two roommates understood each other"s experience then when they first became friends. It brought them closer unlike how Jose Luis felt now that he returned home from work. When his thoughts returned from his fond memories of their first meeting, Jose Luis realized that he was still upset at Rey for using the air conditioning overnight. He tried to use those fond memories to dissuade his negative feelings. It was to no avail. Rey had recently been distant and selfish with him.
