The many bronze mini-chandeliers lit up the long herringbone brick walkway so that the arches reflected the light downward and then outward past the Romanesque columns supporting it. The light then emulated into the grassy courtyard between Powell Library and Royce Hall where a few straggling students began packing up their books and walking home. Daniel Mendoza glanced over towards them as he casually strolled the walkway with his overstuffed, dark leather Jansport backpack tightly gripped so that it did not weigh down his back as he walked.
