The route they would need to travel out of Phoenix, Arizona primarily includes Interstate 10 even after they reach the California-Arizona border which is delineated by the Colorado river. Blythe is to the west of the great river and Ehrenberg is to the east. But first they would have to traverse the five-lane freeway from Avondale to Goodyear and then on to Buckeye where it narrowed to two lanes and then to Tonopah and onwards until they passed Quartzsite in La Paz county. Quartzsite is a small mining town approximately ten minutes from the border where local gems and minerals are sold to tourists who flock there annually.
