#18 someone else

"Avaly and I have been getting to know each other since you were asleep. it's time we all get to know each other and for you to understand what I expect from my little pets." Jonathan exuded confidence in himself, no faltering in his voice. he was smug and errogant and Zara only prayed it would give her an advantage, if she did get the opportunity to attack. she was trying desperately to come up with anything. any plan to get out of here with avaly. she would try and not give up. she was desperate. she slowly stood up from the ground. she looked at Jonathan as he was still grinning at her. Evil oozing out of his pores.

"what do you mean what you expect from us?" she knew what he meant but she was now biding her time as he narrated his life to her. the one thing she knew was that arrogant people loved to talk about themselves and their plans. she could feel the cold wall behind her and it was the first time she realized no one had noticed she was no longer attached to the wall. it was her first time since avaly was brought in she had a sliver of hope. it was a small sliver but it was better than nothing. with not knowing what happened to the rest of their group she would take what she could. she was a warrior and she was not going to give up. She couldn't give up on Avaly. If Jonathan took over Ithica then Zara knew it would not be long before he took over Earth. He was dangerous.

"you both will be my pets. you will do what I want and I will do what I want to you." his laugh sickened her. The thought of him near either of them made her want to vomit. Zara looked down into Avalys blue eyes once more. praying she understood that she was about to attack. then she noticed it. there in the depths of her eyes. recognition washed into them. it was all Zara needed.

her emerald green eyes followed Jonathan as he rambled on. he stood up and turned his back to Zara and it was all she needed to encourage herself to fling forward. sje pushed off the wall and flung herself at him knocking him down to the ground with a loud thump. she quickly wrapped her chained hands around his neck using the cuffs to choke him. Zara could hear commotion going on around her as she squeezed harder holding him down as he flailed trying to get her off of him. she opened her eyes just in time to see avaly kick a guard towards the wall and his body slumped lifeless to the cell ground.

Zara felt as Jonathan's body went limp. he was no longer struggling. she couldn't stop squeezing him. she wanted to make sure he was dead. "avaly! are you ok?" Zara yelled out.

"yes! I'm not sure if the others were caught. I don't remember much. I just remember waking up in a cell tied to a wooden bed as he cut me with silver. he only brought me into your cell when he couldn't get any information from me. he thought he could force it out of one of us."

Zara nodded at her. she knew they didn't have time to wait here and catch up. they needed to get out of here. she grabbed the silver dagger from the floor and turned Jonathan around having him face her as she plunged it into his heart. she watched him sputter as blood began to dribble out of his mouth. Zara knew it was silver and no shifter dragon or wolf could heal from this. he was going to die. Zara watched as his eyes fluttered open looking deep into her emerald green eyes. his voice was low. she was barely able to hear him as he whispered out to her. "I'm not the one you have to worry about. I was doing what I was told to do."

Zara and avaly were now in shock as he spoke his last words. a sickly evil smile spread across his face. "what do you mean?"

"I wasn't the one you needed to worry most about..." cough, cough. he was fading away fast and Zara had no way of helping him. he was spitting and coughing up blood now. "the person you needed to worry about..." he was gone. his eyes rolled to the back of his head and his body no longer had any life left. Zara grabbed his shirt in her fists.

"tell me you bastard! don't you take the cowards way out!" she beat his chest trying to bring him back just long enough for him to finish his words. she beat on his chest until she had expelled all her energy. tears were streaming down her cheeks. she felt avaly come behind her placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Zara we must go. we have no clue who the enemy is and we need to find if everyone is ok." Zara knew she was right but she couldn't seem to tear herself away from Jonathan's lifeless body. "Zara! now!" avalys screams pierced through her daze.

she reached up to avaly her hands full of Jonathan's blood."let's go. check the cells as we go. they may be in one." Zara and avaly started down the long row of cells checking each one as they went. each cell they went to was empty. "damn it! where are they?" Zara was growing frustrated with each empty cell.

avaly ran ahead of her checking the next cell. "ZARA!" Her scream rang out like thunder. Zara ran to the cell stopping at the door.

"Avaly? are you ok?" she stopped in her tracks. Leif was chained to a wall barely breathing. Zara ran to him holding his face in her hands. "Leif! baby I need you to wake up!"

she heard him moan as his eyes opened slowly. "Zara."

"we need a key. we need to get him out of here. I'm going to go back and check if Jonathan had a key. you keep looking for our people." Zara placed a kiss on his lips then ran from the cell back down to where Jonathan lay dead. it didn't take long to get there and she quickly went to work rummaging through his pockets. she was growing more impatient until she finally latched onto metal in his back pocket."the keys! thank you Jonathan." Zara made quick work of returning to the cell that held Leif. she un chained him and helped him to his feet. "baby I need you to stay awake I can only do so much." he moaned again as he slumped to the floor.

she heard footsteps pounding on the floor running towards her. she hid herself and Leif in the cell hoping whoever it was would not notice her in there. the footsteps stopped where she hid. "Zara? I found Alana. we need to get her to a water source quickly. she is really sick."

Zara stood up and walked out to her. her heart was pounding fast and she was exhausted her body crying out to her. "I thought you were someone else. did you find anyone else?"

avaly shook her head. "Finn and vlad are in a cell together and I can't find Michael anywhere. I can feel him somewhere in the castle though. he is close but I'm not sure if we have time to find him." avaly reached down grabbing Leif who was now healing a little faster now. they helped him to the cell that held Finn and vlad as Zara used the key to release their hands. they were in much better shape and helped the women with Leif as they ran towards the cell that held Alana. she lay there on the floor chained to the wall. her lips were dehydrated and her body was pale. she needed a water source quickly or else she wouldn't make it. "Alana we are here to help you. hang on princess! hang on for me." avaly grabbed the keys unlocking her from her restraints as she grabbed her up into her arms. They made their way down the hall until they reached a door. Looking back at everyone as they nodded in agreement. Zara pushed open the heavy door with Alana still in her hands. the light streamed in blinding them all for a few moments. they stood there allowing their eyes to adjust. Zara could hear the river that flowed next to the castle. "Come on we need to get Alana to the water there isn't much time!" she went running towards the sound praying to the moon Goddess to bless her with enough time to save Alana.

the sounds grew louder as her feet pounded into the earth. crunching twigs sounded out with each footstep. she could hear the shouting behind her but she didn't stop. she knew she had only moments to save Alana. time was not on her side. she felt the cool water beneath her feet as she dove into the water with Alana still clutching her to her body. she released her allowing the water to wash over her body. Zara watched as she sank into the depths of the water.
