Libby sat on the couch, tears streaming down her face as she tried to collect herself. Her heart felt heavy with the weight of their argument and the uncertainty that now hung in the air. Just when she thought her world was falling apart, she heard the soft pitter-patter of little feet approaching. Chloe clambered onto the couch, her eyes wide with concern. Her daughter’s small, warm body pressed against Libby’s side, providing comfort in the midst of her tears. Libby sniffed back her tears and looked at Chloe, trying to compose herself. “What are you doing out of bed, sweetheart?” she asked, her voice choked with emotion. Chloe looked up at her with innocent eyes. “The door banged, and I woke up,” she explained. “Why are you crying, mummy? Sir Paul was supposed to make you smile again.
