HAZEL The screams of women and children jolted me up from my sleep. I immediately sat up and noticed a burning smell in the air. I realized my room was clouded with thick fumes. I jumped out of bed and ran to my parents’ chambers, barely seeing anything because of the fumes, but they were nowhere to be found. I then dashed to Roslyn’s room. Her bed was empty, just like my parents, she was also missing. I called out to them, but there was no response. I hurried back to my room, grabbed my sword, and ran out of the house.
