Ezzy:
He grabbed my hand and kept me with him as we headed into this club. I didn’t feel all that comfortable until I saw it… the bar, wasn’t really a bar. It was a soda stand with snacks and cotton candy. I smiled wide as he found two seats at the fake bar and I looked at the napkins. The Sober Snack Bar.
“How did you know about this place?” I asked him as he waved down the guy behind the bar.
“When I was a kid, well, a young teen, my brother moved out here. Our mom and dad were s**t, so he would take me for a month in the summer sometimes and he was studying to be a monk, a pastor or a father… so it was the only place around here that didn’t do anything bad.”
“It’s been open that long?” I asked and he laughed and shook his head.
“It was about 14 years ago, at least, it’s not like I’m 40.”
“I just mean it’s done so well for a place that does candy and soda and dancing.” I told him and he laughed again as he turned and looked at the happy sober people dancing around having fun.
“I figured a real club wouldn’t be a good idea, and the club house wasn’t a good place either-“
“Why? The guys here aren’t like Vegas.” I surprised myself with hat. I had met some, apparently without knowing it. I knew in my gut that these men were different. If they weren’t and the two men who had saved me here would have never stayed. I knew that deep down too.
I just got to the end of menu and saw a cherry shaved iced cone. I ordered that and knew that I was going to also have curly fries and maybe a couple cookies if they looked good. I got to get to know him a bit more, he told me about his other job for the club, and we were snacking he reached up and dusted off some of the salt I must have gotten in my hair and it was the first time I had been on a date with a man and didn’t flinch when he reached for me.
He took me home after we were done and I just walked up to the door, he had gotten off his bike when he parked it on the sidewalk, and I just smiled as he looked around as if he didn’t like the area. “This is where you live? It’s not the worst neighborhood but it isn’t that safe.”
“I knew that moving in. We’re all safe, there is a nice couple with a couple kids… the mom is a stay at home mom and she kind of watches the neighborhood with her youngest during the day, they have cameras and we don’t get that much crime, it’s just… ok.” I reassured him in case he was worried about the bike being out of his sight.
“No issues?”
“No, not here. Our landlord is a nice older guy who has two daughters himself so he cuts us some breaks on rent for a week or two until we pay it in full… he comes by and fixes things if they break. He his supposed to come over and look at the disposal tomorrow if he can get off work early-“
“I can look at it.” He offered and I was shocked a bit but I opened my mouth to object to him having to do anything, but all I ended up doing was nodding. I turned and opened the door slowly and made my arrival known.
“I have Travis with me, he agreed to look at the disposal since my big mouth kept talking.” I shouted and went to put my purse down and then shove off my shoes.
“Travis?” I heard Chrissy shout back and then she rounded the corner in shorts and a baggy T and she smiled as she saw us. “Oh. Hi.”
“Sofia here too?” I asked her and she nodded before she looked back, and I heard heels clicking before Sofia stuck her head around the corner. “Hey, do you have that tool thing you tried to use on the disposal?”
“Yeah, it’s behind the faucet.” She nodded and I looked back to Travis and nodded him in to follow me.
“Nice to see you both again.” He told them as he passed, and I heard some whispers and when I looked back, they giggled and dispersed like we were kids. “What does it sound like?” He asked me and I pointed to the switch and the made the same noise it did last night when it wouldn’t grind. It was like it was on, but it wasn’t moving. “Might be something stuck in there.”
“I tried cleaning it out.” I told him and he nodded slowly, reaching in now that it was off, and I watched as he seemed to swirl his hand around there. “Anything?” I asked as he then rinsed his hand.
“Nope… let me try restarting it.” He got down, opening the small door, and I watched as he cleared it out and I grabbed the little S wrench thing and waited for him to lean in and look for the little slot this goes into.
“Here.” I said as he settled, and I watched him take it and the swirled it left a couple times and then right before he pulled it out and then he made something click. “What was that?”
“So, there is a small button here? Did you try that?” He asked me as he kept his finger on it and I just shook my head. I knew we didn’t hit it.
“That’s the restart, not the swirling?” I asked him and he shook his head.
“The swirl is to try and grind something too deep for your hand. The button restarts it and then you swirl after a few times in each direction, and then try it.” He told me and I nodded as he finished swirling again and I reached over, turning on the water as he sat up and I flipped the switch and it worked. It fired right up and sounded like normal.
“So, if that happens again just hit the button and swirl.” I said it like I was going to make a note of it and he smiled and nodded. “Thank you.” I shut it off and then the water, getting my shoulder to rub against his chest and as I turned to him, he got a bit closer, going easy as he seemed to corner me against the sink.
“I’d really like to take you on a serious date next time.” He whispered like he just knew my friends were listening.
“Yeah? When, where?” I asked knowing I would try and switch shifts if I needed to.
“Saturday? In the afternoon.” He offered and I licked my lips and nodded. Maybe if I took someone’s graveyard shift it would be ok.
“Sounds good to me. I will switch a shift or something.” I told him and he leaned into me, and I held my breath, not wanting to get worried or freak out but his lips touched the corner of my mouth and he pulled back completely, winking and then and then I followed him out to the door. I opened my mouth to say ‘bye’ but my hands had a mind of their own and I grabbed his arm, his wrist and his elbow and bringing him back to stand right in front of me. I leaned up, taking his lips in mine and thanking whatever angel was passing by as he took over, so I didn’t have to lead the kiss.
His hand went to my hip and he pulled me against him so I was between him and the door, I didn’t flinch, I didn’t pull back, I wanted it. I wanted everything he was giving me, I didn’t even jump when the door behind me hit the wall pretty hard and I sighed when he pulled back slowly.
“Saturday better come really fast.” He whispered as he gave me another kiss, a soft, simple peck this time before he backed up. “Let me know if it can’t happen E, we will get together when we can.” He told me and I watched him walk down the two steps and he waited until I realized he was waiting for me to close the door and lock it.
I did just that and watched as he walked down the rest of the way. I heard his bike before I heard the whispers again and I turned and saw them staring at me.
“So… E, where have you been?” They giggled at the new nickname he gave me, of course they spied on me, but it was expected whenever any of us had a date.
I giggled with them and sat on the couch so we could be chatty and gossip. We eventually did this after every date. Travis took me on so many it was hard to find a fault in any of them. He took me on at least one a week and when he could it was two or three. He never pushed for more than kissing, and I was getting to the point where I could lay in bed after he had kissed my lips until they were puffy, and I could crave his touch in other places. I would hope he would ask, to see if it was ok. But he never did, and the more I complained about him not doing it the more Chrissy and Sofia told me to do it, to ask if he wanted to get a hotel, or if I wanted them to head out for a night or something like that so we could be alone.
It was a whole two months before I got the urge to climb him like a tree and have my way with him right there on his bike.
He had my thigh in his hand as he waited for me to get off so he could help steady me but I just tightened my legs on his and moved my hand from where I had placed them on his shoulders to down to his sides slowly and then back around. I wanted to lay my head against his back but with the helmet it wouldn’t be as comfortable. I revved his engine and backed out slowly from the house and I saw Chrissy in the window giving me a thumbs up.
I kept my thighs on him and he took me to a small little cove, I was nervous when he held out his hand for me again and I got up slowly. I pulled the helmet off slowly and Travis was doing the same before he pulled me closer looking worried. “What happened? I don’t see you three getting into a fight-“
I stopped him from being worried and leaned in. Kissing him as he seemed to hesitate before he relaxed and kissed back. I was a little hesitant as I moved my hand from his neck to his chest, going down and I felt him pull away in a hiss before getting a look in his eye that showed me he knew exactly what I wanted.
“You sure?” He whispered and I nodded and leaned back into his mouth. He pulled me tighter against him and I just knew whatever would happen with us, it was going to be good. “Get back on babe.” He whispered as he stole my lips for another kiss before letting me get the helmet and back on. I threw my leg back over and held on as he took a few turns and we ended up outside a nice hotel, I bit my lip as I looked up at the building and then down to his hand taking mine slowly.
“We could have gone to a motel…” I whispered as he started to pull me with him into the hotel.
“Never in a million years.” He kissed my cheek, then my temple and we waited in line to get a room. “Room for the night, biggest bed you have.” He pulled out a card and I nibbled my lip as the lady charged it, get the key card ready, and then he wrapped his arm around my waist and we were headed for the elevators.
