Mia walked away not because she was mad with Oscar for being around the cheerleaders, she wanted to give him breathing space. She has noticed that most of the time ever since she came to this school, he is always with her and he hardly speaks to other students.
It bothers her but she decides to keep it to herself. She does not want to drench him in her sadness and revenge-filled obsession. Though she heard the cheerleader's words and is fully aware that she is the subject matter she does not care as she knows ever since she stepped into the school she has been a common subject of discussion.
