Chapter 3 - The Stalker

1032 Words
Cytherea Swan… Ever since that day, the guy never forgets the woman who approached him. She was the very first person who showed him kindness—the one who never thought of him as a dollar sign. He wanted to know her more. For the first time in his life, he wanted to use his money, his connections to be the best version of himself. He didn't want to be the nerdy one anymore. If he wanted to win her, he needed to be the best. He was in his office inside his mansion when someone knocked on the door. He was sitting on his swivel chair, enjoying his coffee as he scanned all the documents that contained the list of establishments that catered to personal development courses. After three knocks, the door opened and revealed his butler, who bowed to him before closing the door. He was holding an envelope and went up to him. "Sir, these documents just arrived. It contains the information about that woman," the butler informed him and handed him the envelope. He took the envelope and placed it on the table. He looked at his butler intently. He leaned on the table and clasped his hands. "Good. Tell me more about her." "Her name is Cytherea Swan, 26 years old. She has a bachelor's degree in Math. She lives in Davao City, Philippines. She belongs to a middle-class family. Her father is a manager of the biggest banana plantation in the Philippines, and her mother is a plain housewife. She is a well-known vlogger. She's here because she is featuring New Orleans for her vlog. There are rumors that she will migrate here. Her boyfriend, Ares Pendleton, 30 years old, is a resident in Natchitoches. They've been staying at the Emerald Hotel. According to the reports, she will stay here for two months." "She will migrate here? Why? Is she getting married?" His eyebrows furrowed. He felt lethargic. It seemed like he was already too late. "No, Sir. Even though they've been together for six years, the guy hasn't proposed yet." His eyes twinkled. He still had a chance with her. "However," the butler continued. "we found something fishy about the guy. It seems like Ares has an illicit affair with Cytherea's best friend, Athena Ellis. They've been seen together going to a hotel several times for the last five years. Also, we received some reports that Ares bought a two-carat diamond ring. It looks like he's planning to propose. We also found out she is a philanthropist. In fact, half of her income goes to the orphanage she's supporting, and that info is not known to many. Based on the reports, she's really a nice woman, Sir." He nodded. He knew already that Cytherea is a great woman, just based on how she worriedly looked at him when he was hurt. She even made sure he's being taken care of before leaving him. "Thanks, Nim." He took the document he was reading earlier and circled the one who got his attention. He handed it to Nim. "I want you to call that school and enroll me. Be discreet about it. I don't want other people to know about it. I'll start taking personal development classes. If I want to win her, I have to be the best," he said in a serious tone. "Yes, Sir. Also, Ares' and Athena's profiles are in the envelope that I gave you just in case you want to know more about them." Nim bowed and took the paper from him. "You may go now." Nim bowed again before leaving his office. He took the envelope and opened it. He saw pictures of Ares, Athena, and Cytherea. He took Athena's picture and stared at it. "You must be madly in love with Cytherea's boyfriend to betray her like this. Don't worry. I'll help you get him. Then, I can have Cytherea for myself," he whispered. His eyes lit, and his lips curved into a vile smirk. He placed Athena's picture on the table and took Cytherea's photo and caressed it. "That guy doesn't deserve you," he said as if he was talking to Cytherea directly. "He is a piece of s**t!" His expression was ferocious. "You only deserve the best, and I will be that man for you. Wait for me, Mon Amour." His mood hurriedly shifted from being savage to being meek. He then smiled sweetly at the picture. He opened the drawer on his table and took his phone. The documents in the envelope also contained the contact information of the three. He glanced at Athena's phone number and dialed it on his phone. After a few rings, a woman answered. "Hello?" Her voice sounded like she just woke up. It was raspy yet soothing to the ears. "Hi, is this Athena Ellis?" he carefully asked. He needed an ally, and Athena is the perfect fit. "Who's this?" "You may not know me, but you need me, Athena.”   “Are you crazy? You know what? If you have nothing else to do then, don’t pester me!” she screamed and disconnected the call. Her anger towards the caller is evident. How could someone tell her that she needed him? She didn’t even know the caller.   A venomous sneer was written on his face. Her action didn’t make him falter.   He took the photo in the envelope showing Ares and Athena in a very compromised scene. Anyone who will see it doesn’t need to be a genius in order to figure out their relationship. He grinned.    He took a picture of the photo and sent it to Athena.   His smile grew wider when not even a minute passed. Athena’s number was flashing on his phone. He tapped the answer call button.   “What do you want?” He could hear her gritting her teeth. He knew that he really pissed her off.   He chuckled.   “Let’s make a deal,” he calmly said. He leaned on his chair and relaxedly put his feet on top of the table.   “I’m all ears.”
