"What the heck did you just do?!" Athena angrily confronted the man. "Are you nuts? Why did you even do that?!"
Athena was so furious that Ares was mad at her to the point that he suspected her of being an accomplice. She was still shivering after the confrontation she had with Ares. It was all the man's fault. He's supposed to bring Ares and her together and not make them apart even more.
She didn't go with the couple when they still decided to go to the spa. She was thinking of confronting the man. After the two left the hotel, she immediately dialed the man's phone number. She was pacing back and forth in the living room while waiting for the man to answer the call. Not too long, the man answered it.
"You're so hot, Athena. You need to take a chill pill first," the man chuckled, unshaken of Athena's angry rant.
"What kind of plan do you have? You're supposed to be making Ares and Cytherea apart, not bringing them close together! What you did was a bad move! Now, Ares is acting like a knight in shining armor and Cytherea is a damsel in distress." Her blood was boiling.
"I'm not going to explain the things I did, Athena. I did those for a reason. Just do what you're told and everything should be fine," he calmly said. He had everything in place that Athena doesn't need to know.
"No! Because of what you did, Ares became suspicious of me. He even confronted me if I had something to do with it! At this rate, he will never be mine!"
"Hold your horses, Athena. I didn't mention your name. Besides, you should blame yourself, not me. How come it is my fault? I'm the feeder and you're supposed to be the receiver while Ares should be the reactor. But what did you do? You became the reactor," he said in a matter-of-fact tone. He sighed. "You should already know Ares' character since it's been years since you've known each other, not to mention you've been intimate with each other too. Don't blame me for something you failed to do, Athena and that is," he paused, "containing your emotions."
"I know well how to control my emotions-"
"If you do, Ares should have never confronted you," he cut her off.
Athena took a deep breath. She's trying to calm herself down. The man has a point. It was her fault. If only she didn't look bothered while scanning through the photos, the confrontation could have been prevented.
She sat heavily on the couch. She felt like she had lost all her energy. "You made a mistake with this move. What if they're going to tell the police?"
"Well, I don't mind. I would love that," the man smirked. He could not tell Athena that he heard their conversation. Based on his observation, he couldn't trust Athena. When pressured, she tends to panic and is easy to read. "A piece of advice, Athena. The way you're seducing Ares will no longer work. He may be a beast hungry with s****l needs, but he is also a man who is madly in love with your best friend. Don't just use your body. Use your brain too."
"Excuse me?!" Athena yelled. She couldn't believe she'd be hearing an insult from a man who didn't know her personally. "Did you just insult me?"
"Do I have to? I'm giving you advice, not a reason to be mad at me. Learn to listen." He sighed again. "By the way, how's your shoulder?"
"H-how did you know?" she stammered. Her heart was beating rapidly. So, he's been watching us?
"Yes," he answered as if he already knew what Athena was thinking. His voice became dangerous. "Know that I have eyes and ears, Athena. If you're thinking something stupid, you better dismissed the idea. And if you want to be on my good side, do as you are told. Stop calling me if things don't go your way. Remember, I'm the one helping you and not the other way around."
Before Athena could answer, the call got disconnected. Her jaw dropped. She couldn't believe that the man just hung up on her. She desperately ran her fingers through her hair. She was getting impatient. Things were running slowly.
"He kept on saying, 'do as you're told,' but he didn't even tell me anything, not a single thing," she annoyingly said, clenching her fists. The only thing she had done so far was giving the man Cytherea's schedule and her favorites. After giving those pieces of information, the man never asked her to do anything. Now, she's really hesitant if she should keep still. Because if she does not make a move, she will definitely lose Ares.
The man was watching the monitor and heard what Athena said. He was standing in front of the monitor while he crossed his arms across his chest. A dangerous smile crept across his face. He bit his thumb while looking intently at Athena.
"I knew it! I was so right about you, Athena. Now, let's see how you move," he softly uttered. He is getting excited about the turning of events. He knew Athena would do something and that it would fail miserably. He was just waiting for that time so that he could use that to his advantage. He bit his lip to contain his laugh.
"This is getting exciting." He looked at the photo frame on his desk. It was a smiling picture of Cytherea. His eyes softened as he was looking at the photo. His heart started to beat so fast. His face was full of adoration. "Just wait a little bit longer, My Love, just a little bit longer."
He left the secret room and went to his office. He called his loyal butler, Nim. It was already time for him to excite the second plan.
After a few minutes, Nim was already knocking on his office door. Nim opened the door and went to him. He was just standing by the window while looking at his workers doing their thing.
Nim bowed to him.
"Let's do the second plan at the annual party. I can't wait to see my queen," he commanded.
"Yes, Sir. Everything is already prepared. All you have to do is attend."
"Good."
That night will be the most exciting night of his life.
