Mikhail checked the connections one last time, pausing to make sure the supplemental power he'd jury-rigged from the engine cold-reignition system would kick in to maintain the wormhole if he was able to make a connection. He crawled out from underneath the counter, banging his injured wing in the process.
"Mpf!" he winced.
Ninsianna rushed towards him, eager to heal every bump and injury. He held up a hand to keep her at arm's length. The last thing he needed was for the beautiful young woman to distract him. She was already occupying far too much space inside his head. Starting today, it was time to disabuse her of the notion she was going with him.
