The sound of a man's voice crying out in his sleep jarred Ninsianna awake.
"Máthair! Ná gortaítear sí! Le do thoil!"
She sat up and watched him flail. Every night he woke up screaming. Papa said, if she brought him back to the village, he would help Mikhail banish the night-demons, but she didn't want to go back.
Mikhail whimpered a heart-wrenching sob.
A lump rose in her throat. How could a man act so fearless when awake, but remain helpless when Dim-me and Dim-mea [71] came to torment his dreams? Whatever memories gave entrance to the demons, they must be truly terrifying.
"It would be kinder if I cast a spell to erase it," she whispered.
But she did nothing. Before Mikhail could take her to see the stars, first he needed
