Chapter 57 May – 3,390 BC Earth: Village of Assur NINSIANNA She found him seated on the roof, staring at the dying sun as it cast the last rays upon the mountain which marked the location of his sky canoe. "Mikhail?" she called out. He lowered a wing and glanced back, his expression unreadable. Ninsianna grabbed a small bench and sat down next to him. The sunset reflected off his skin, accentuating his chiseled features and giving the impression he'd been carved from stone. "I heard what happened," she said. Mikhail stared down at a pair of stones he held in his hands. Around his feet lay hundreds of tiny flint-shards. "It was nothing," he said. "I knew when I came here your fiancé doesn't like me." He stared west. If he'd been able to fly, she had no doubt he would have already
