CHAPTER EIGHT The ground vibrates beneath my feet. I can feel the distant howls reverberating through the soles of my boots, a primal call that beckons us forward. Jake's presence to my left is as solid as the moon above, while Ryan leads with a determination that could split rock. "Keep close," Ryan commands over his shoulder, his voice a growl swallowed by the crackling air. We descend into the ravine, the cooler air down here clinging to our forms like second skins.
