My stomach did a flip and my mind did a 360. Antonio's lips were soft and had a lingering taste of champagne, making his lips sweeter than candy. But what really made my heart race was the amount of passion behind the kiss. It was almost like I was the oxygen he so desperately breathed in. Never in my life had I been kissed in such a way before.
But the kiss was short, and he leaned back only moments later. He stared at me, waiting for my reaction to his sudden kiss. But I wasn't sure what my mind was thinking because it was completely blank. So I let my body decide.
I grabbed his collar and crashed my lips on his, taking in the sweet taste and the warmth from his body. Antonio obliged immediately and roughly embraced me with his arms. I moaned of content and started to pull at his collar. I wasn't sure where the hell this was going, but I wasn't going to stop either. And Antonio seemed just as eager as me, if not more.
Instead of roaming my body with his hands, he suddenly grabbed my thighs and lifted me up, making me encircle his waist with my bare legs. This allowed him to feel my buzzing skin, and he used that opportunity very well. I could feel his rough but soft hands squeezing and caressing my skin at the same time. And it sent strong orgasmic shivers through my body.
He was still dancing with my lips, and when his tongue begged for entrance I allowed it, and our tongues started to fight for dominance. And not even in this fight did I back down in submission, and it made him growl of pleasure.
My whole body was buzzing with warm energy and made me warm in my womanhood. Also, with my legs around his waist, I felt a bulge press against my core. Waves of excitement rushed through me.
This was really happening. The King of the mafia was kissing me like I was the love of his life, and I drowned in his touch. It reminded me of a romantic novel, and all the feelings described in one. Because I was exploding with so many loving and warm feelings towards him.
Suddenly I heard a chair scrape against the ground. It made me gasp and release his lips to see what he was doing. Antonio had just pushed away the chair I had sat on, and was moving towards the table. Is he thinking of..?
And just like I had predicted, Antonio placed me on the edge of the table and took a moment to stare down at me. The strong and utter hunger after me in his eyes made me moan and bite my lip.
I jumped when he roughly pushed everything off the table. The plates, the glasses and even the napkins! The only thing remaining on the table was the open champagne bottle.
But he didn't give me time to turn my head and watch the mess on the floor, because he captured my lips again and pressed me down on the table. My back was resting against the cold glass, and it made my body quake of the mix between warmth and heat.
Antonio wasted no time and caressed my bare legs from my feet and up to the edge of my dress. A silent gasp left my lips when I felt him slowly starting to pull at my dress. I didn't care if anyone could see us, my body was aching for him. Completely and utterly aching for him. I longed to feel him.
But I knew he also was teasing me, because he released my lips and started to assault my neck, probably leaving hickeys. I moaned loudly and arched my back like a bow, wanting to feel him closer.
Antonio was just about to pull my dress up when the champagne bottle suddenly exploded. I didn't even have time to react before I was on the floor with Antonio over me. What just happened?
"Antonio?!" I squeaked. His whole body was pressed against mine, and we were laying on the ground. How did the champagne bottle explode?!
The sweet liquid was pouring down from the table and soaked down my dress.
"Keep your head down!" he hissed in my ear and started to look around. Keep my head down? What?
Then something, something small and too fast to see, passed by my head. And that's when I knew someone was shooting at us.
Panic started to erupt in my chest. A f*****g bullet had just passed by my head!
WE'RE GOING TO DIE!
It started to pound in my head and my heart was beating out of my chest. Never in my life had I felt such fear before! Not even my first meeting with Antonio compared to the fear and panic running through my veins and mind. All possible scenarios of my death circulated in my head.
"Stay low and follow me!" Antonio shout-whispered in my ear, grabbed my hand and violently pulled me to my feet. Stay low? This is not staying low! And who the hell are those people?! Why are they shooting at us?! Ugh, why am I even asking that question to myself? I know exactly why they or someone is shooting at us! It's because he's f*****g Antonio Gennaro!
Antonio held my hand tightly and pulled me with him, away from the open area where the shooter easily could kill us with a single shot. He pulled me towards the side of the rooftop and then crouched down, dragging me down with him. My feet were aching, actually aching, after running such a short distance. I will never be able to run in these shoes!
"Take off your heels now!" he hissed and glanced over the edge of the rooftop, only to instantly crouch down again when a bullet passed above him and shattered a vase.
"Who are they?!" I asked with a scared voice as I removed my heels. I could barely speak because of the fear bubbling in my chest, I even felt like throwing up. Even Antonio was stressed, maybe because I was with him.
"I don't know, but we need to get away." he said and clutched his jaw. Oh God. We might die. I might die! I'm not ready to die!
Suddenly Antonio placed his hands on my cheeks and forced me to look into his pale eyes. Perhaps he had seen the horror and fright on my face. I was so incredibly afraid. My legs were shaking and my mind was running wild without even producing a proper thought. All I could think was that I wanted to get out here, alive.
"Listen to me, I know you're scared. I'm not letting anything happen to you, but I need you to listen very carefully to me, can you do that?" he asked me and stared deeply into my eyes. My throat felt dry like a desert. It was like I had lost my voice. So I gave him a short nod. He is my ticket out of here.
"Good. Now, we're going to make a run for the door. I know when to run, just trust me and don't look back." he said and gave me a short kiss on the lips. Even now, when death was possibly near, his kiss still sent a shiver of delight down my spine. The worry on his face took me by surprise. I know he's used to these situations. Why wouldn't he be?
The worry is for me.
And that made me trust him.
"I'm going to count to three and then we run together, okay? One. Two. Three, run!" he exclaimed and dragged me off again. We ran straight towards the door, but it felt like I wasn't running. Somehow I distanced myself from the bullets flying around me. The only thing I could process was the fear and rapidly beating heart in my chest.
Antonio held my hand tightly and nearly crushed the glass door when he pushed it open. The glass isn't going to stop bullets. We aren't safe yet! I just want to be safe! This is so crazy!
Antonio turned around, taking me by surprise, and grabbed my waist to pull me around the corner, now a wall was shielding us from the bullets. But even if they couldn't reach us anymore, they still kept shooting. I screamed of fear and buried my face in the crook of Antonio's neck. He didn't hesitate, and held me.
Among all the fear and terror, he was the only thing that felt safe.
"Elena, listen to me." he said and carefully pushed me back. I noticed they had stopped shooting now. Does that mean we're safe?
"I'm going to get you out of here." he said so fiercely, his eyes burning with determination. It almost scared me to see him so set on a goal.
"What are we going to do?" I managed to say. My voice was weak.
"My people cannot get here in time, the shooters are probably infiltrating this building as we speak. We sneak past them and get to my car." Antonio said carefully, talking to me like I was a child. But I didn't care to feel irritated about the way he was speaking to me. I actually appreciated it, because the fear made it hard for me to focus.
But he's missing one detail. I have no idea how to sneak past armed killers!
"Antonio I- I can't! I'm too scared!" I stuttered and felt the tears run down my cheeks. I didn't care to wipe them away either. We have more important matters at the moment, like getting out of here alive! But he's asking the impossible of me!
"Hey, you can do this, I know you can Elena Hale. You just need to follow me." he said and kissed my forehead. In my head I was thinking of all the ways this could end, and it can only end in two ways.
First, I do as he says and try to sneak past the killers. The chance of getting killed is high.
But the second option is even dumber and riskier. Not listening to him is a death sentence. I have to trust him on this.
Fuck.
"Okay, okay." I croaked out and nodded several times. He smiled for a second before turning serious again, probably thinking of our way out of here. I hope he has some sort of mental map of this place, otherwise we're screwed. If I know one thing from watching action movies, it is to never walk in blind.
"We're going to take the side stairs down to the dining hall, then try to sneak out the entry door. They've probably secured all the back exits, the front door is our only way." he said, more talking to himself than me. Okay, it sounds reasonable. But walking out the front door cannot be easy.
"Trust me," he mumbled before kissing my forehead again. "Let's go."
He grabbed my hand again and we ran down the narrow corridor. What I didn't notice while walking through here, earlier tonight, was a door. It was practically invisible because it matched the wallpapers. Is this some sort of secret entrance?
"Through here." he said and opened the door, peeking through before opening it fully and pulling me with him. The staircase leading down reminded me of apartment stairs. It was all white but fairly dark.
"Wait, what about all the people? The staff?" I asked, the thought of them suddenly running through my head.
"I ordered the owner to clear the guests out earlier tonight, including the staff. But those who were left are probably dead." he said and we started to run down the stairs. Dead? They're dead?!
The horror and the sorrow for their family made my heart ache. They're dead because of me, because I wanted a fun night out. This is all my fault.
I didn't get the chance to fully think about it, because the staircase wasn't that long and we quickly reached the end of it. And that's when I heard people speaking to each other on the other side of the door, but it wasn't in English. I wasn't sure, but it sounded like Italian.
"We need to stay quiet. Never leave my side, got it?" Antonio whispered, but not turning around to look me in the eye.
"I got it." I whispered back. Now I can only hope to leave the place alive. What happens next is completely up to faith and Antonio's skill to sneak out of this place.
Antonio opened the door extremely carefully, and I noticed that all the lights were out. So they cut their power. Clever fuckers.
"Let's go." he said before slowly opening the door and pulling me with him. He was crouching too, and I followed suit and crouched down. The door closed silently behind us and I noticed a wooden counter was protecting us, but I was hearing people speaking and walking.
Their voices were angry, but I didn't understand a word they said. Now I felt true fear.
I was so scared they would hear the beat of my heart, because it was beating so incredible fast.
Don't screw up, don't screw up.
Antonio checked around the counter before we moved over to another counter right in front of us, but neither of us saw the killers. But we did see the front door. Luckily we were rather closer. But it would be dangerous. We needed to move behind another counter and then cross an open area to reach the door. That can't be good.
He didn't say another word before we carefully sneaked to the next counter, but in order to do that, we had to cross a small space between the counters. And that small distance nearly got us killed.
One of the killers, wearing masks and armed to the teeth, turned around just as we crossed the small distance. The flashlight gave him away, and Antonio was seconds away from being caught but he pushed me forward and retreated in a second. If he hadn't reacted so quickly, we would both be dead.
But now we are separated. Not good.
I stared at Antonio with terrified eyes. What the hell am I supposed to do now?!
The only thing left was to run to the front door, but Antonio also needed to run over to my counter, otherwise he would be running right into the killers. And crossing that distance will most likely cost him time. Too much time.
"On three." he whispered. WHAT?! He can't seriously continue with this plan! It's madness and he will die! I shook my head, feeling more tears run down my cheeks.
"Trust me." he whispered. He looked so sure of himself, and I found myself defeated. So I nodded before biting my lower lip. Antonio peaked around the counter before looking at me again.
"One. Two. Three!" he whispered, and I did the craziest thing in my life, I darted around the counter and ran for my life.
The killers reacted immediately, and shouted things I still couldn't understand. But I didn't let that stop me. My legs were moving on their own. With every step I took, the closer I got to the exit. Also, I could hear Antonio running behind me.
Holy s**t, we might make this!
Then a shot was fired.
And Antonio screamed behind me.
