Chapter 6

2202 Words
DYLAN “What?” I gasp as I sink on the couch right across my parents. “And you bought his story dad?” I ask in disbelief. “I had no reason to doubt him since all his guards confirmed that he never left his house today!” “Oh no! This is quite serious and complicated. I don't....” “Son,” dad calls me, cutting me short. “Tell us the truth please. What really happened to your brother?” I sigh sadly as I eye my parents in defeat. I know that whatever I told them was the truth but dad chooses to believe that crooked and wicked Alpha! “I told you everything as it happened dad. Alpha Gerald is lying. I'm sure he didn't want to tell you anything!” I try to explain. “Things are getting complicated here. If you're telling the truth, why is he lying then? What will he gain from everything especially keeping my son captive? Oh goddess, please intervene. I can't even connect to him via mind link!” my dad laments as he scratches his head in thoughts. Mum who has been silent all along draws closer to him and places her hand over his shoulder, consoling him and assuring him that Davis will be found. She assures him that she has a strong believe in the moon goddess and soon she'll answer her prayers. We have no reason to doubt her since she's the only eyes of the moon goddess and she never denies her anything. We sit in silence for sometime and after what seems like eternity, we all agree to go and have our dinner since starving ourselves won't bring Davis back! After dinner, we all head to our bedrooms after dad promises to continue the search tomorrow.  **** Morning is here and I'm seated on my bed, deep in thoughts. Last night has nothing to write home about. I didn't have any scary dream but I'd wake up at the middle of the night, switch on the lights and check out Davis's bed which would always be empty. I'd then switch off the lights and go back to sleep, sadness overcrowding me. That pattern repeated itself for sometime till I woke up to a light filled room. It was already daybreak! I didn't take a bath yesterday before bed therefore I strip naked and walk towards the bathroom. All I need is to soak myself in a bathtub full of lavender and strawberry flavoured body wash. I just want something to keep me sane the whole day and I just hope they way I'll stay put as Davis's search continues. Oh no! I really miss my brother! I'm still soaked in the bathtub when dad calls me from outside my door. He wants me downstairs so that we can an the day. I ask him to give me a few minutes and he leaves.   Sighing, I step out of the bathtub and walk to the shower. I turn it on and the nerve calming warm water cascades down my head towards my shoulders. All I need is to rinse myself then walk back to the bedroom to dress up for the day. I walk towards the closet as I dry myself. Today is a different day. Davis isn't here to help me choose my outfit for the day. Most of the days, he was the one who dictated what we should wear since his taste in fashion is out if this world. Now here I am, standing in front of an open closet, contemplating on what to wear. I can't help but pity him since I'm sure he didn't have a bath nor a change of clothes. Those are priviledges you don't get to enjoy when you're held captive. Even getting good food is a challenge!   *** My parents are done with breakfast and dad urges me to take mine as he sends the top warrior to assemble all the guards, the Beta and the Gamma as well. We need to strategize on what to do so as to get Davis back. After I'm done with breakfast, we walk outside to the Pack house conference hall where everyone else is present, including dad's Beta Victor, his wife Camille, our Beta Austin and his mate Sandra, our Gamma Cyril who's yet to have a mate, our top warrior Chris who doesn't have a mate yet and all the palace guards and maids. Some know what's happening and others do not. Without wasting time, my dad starts addressing them and he tells them the reason for the sudden meeting. Everybody is shocked and we can hear murmurs amongst them. He lays out the strategy in front of them and each of them is in agreement. It's agreed that only two guards and a few maids will be left in the palace to take care of it as the others storm out in different vehicles in search of Davis.  I'm supposed to lead one troop, Austin will lead another troop, the top Warrior another and our Gamma will lead another troop. This time, dad will be left behind with the others as they try to reach out other packs via phone to see if we can get help and enhancement! It's surely going to be a long day and we're all advised to carry enough food and water for the day. *** My troop which consists of six people, three guards, two maidens and myself decide to head north, the same direction where the Blue Moon Pack is located.  We're all armed to the tooth with all types of weapons and anyone who doesn't know our mission would think that we're out on a war mission! Our plan is to search for him in every bush, square and any abandoned house within that pack. As we embark on this journey, I can't help but whisper a prayer to the moon goddess to keep us away from danger and to help us find my brother! *** It's almost noon and we're all tired to the core after stopping our car countless times as we search for him in bushes and incomplete buildings. We're now at the border of Plainview Pack, which happens to be our pack and the Blue Moon Pack which happens to be led Alpha Gerald.  What surprises me is the number of guards maning the Pack boundaries! It's evident they knew we'd appear searching for Davis therefore they're already waiting for us. We climb down from the car and I signal two guards to follow me as we walk to approach the guards. We have our weapons with us but we don't put them up ready to attack, a sign that we've come in peace. The guards there too lower theirs and after gathering enough courage, I greet them and they reply and without wasting time, they ask me what we've come to do at their Kingdom. I explain everything to them, citing that my brother, the prince of Plainview pack was kidnapped yesterday but I leave out the fact that their Alpha kidnapped him. I'm sure they know that their Alpha did that but they don't show it. “The Alpha gave strict instruction to us, never to allow anyone from your pack or any other pack to enter our pack!” one of the guards who I assume is their leader informs us. “But we're not in war, are we?” I ask, trying to sound friendly, yet deep down in burning with rage. “We're just following instructions prince so you better tell your men to turn and leave while we're still in good terms!” Since I don't want to get them upset, I tell my men to go back to the car as I try pleading with the guards. “Can I talk to your Alpha, at least?” I plead with them as my guards step back but they don't walk back to the car. They're now standing at strategic places. “He's home and he doesn't want to be disturbed!” the guard who seems to be running out of patience scoffs, trying to scare me away but I'm not moved at all. If they want, they can as well take me into custody just like they did to my brother! “Allow me to reach him please and after speaking to him, I won't bother you again!” “And I said you should leave before I snap!”  “Nobody is snapping at the other Jean!” Alpha Gerald roars just behind him and I wonder where he just appeared from. “Just step back, I'll handle prince Dylan.” he adds, making the guard to step back to allow me to face me. “Take me with you Gerald! I want to meet my brother. I want to be with him!” I plead with him and I'm willing to go to any extend, even to kneel down before him so as to touch his heart. “And what makes you think that I want you in my custody as well? You escaped that day and you lost that chance of being in my custody, I'm sorry!” Oh goddess! His sarcasm is out of this world! Who in their sane minds would wish to be in my brother's shoes? “Just release my brother, will you? My parents are devastated. The whole Pack is in turmoil. We just want Davis back and we'll do whatever you ask from us!” He taps his chin using his finger as he pretends to be deep in thought. When he's finally done, he faces me and smirks mockingly.  “How about I kill that bastard and send his body to you as a parcel...that way you'll stop bothering me and come to think of it, you'll become the Alpha and that way you won't need to share a woman with him in the name of a fated mate!” “Shut the f**k up, okay? Don't you dare lay a finger on my brother because if you do, you'll have me to content with!” I bark, my always silent wolf taking charge. He's whimpering and roaring as he struggles to come out but I keep him at bay. I don't want to do something stupid which I'll live to regret. 'Stay out of this Sawyer! I'll handle him!' My wolf's name is Sawyer. He came out when I was only seventeen. He's not as stubborn as I am but sometimes he overreacts. “You can't handle me my friend. You're still young in this field!” Gerald scoffs, still smirking devilishly. Agrrr! I forgot he could read people's thoughts! After hearing what Gerald gas said, Sawyer insists on coming out but I stop him with all my might. It's day time and I don't want to shift at the watch of everyone, else they'll think I'm a coward who always calls upon his wolf to fight his battles for him. “Tell that stupid boy inside you to keep calm if he doesn't want to get hurt. He's nothing compared to my Brooks!” he brags. Oh, so his wolf's name is Brooks? I see! What a stupid name for an Alphas wolf? I bet he's huge and black with fire red eyes. Agrrr! “Of course he's black with red eyes!” Gerald cuts my thoughts short, confirming my fears. How could I have forgotten that he could read thoughts? “Listen to me young man!” he scoffs yet again, startling me. “Your arrogant twin brother is in my custody and I'll do what I deem fit with him and trust me, no one will find him till I decide to release him to you. I'm sure by then he'll have learnt his lesson, a lesson that will teach him to stay out of trouble and not to hurt anybody's feelings, especially one's fated mate!” he says calmly but it comes out with so much anger such that I freak out. “Tell your guards to take you back home before u change my mind and remember to pass my message to your folks. Stop looking for Davis, I'll release him to you when I'm done with him!” His eyes have started turning red and I'm assure that he's not bluffing. I now know better than agitating him any further! “You will pay for this Gerald, I promise you!” I say as I give him one last look then walk away towards our car.  The search has been fruitless and all I need is to get back home and tell everything as it transpired to my folks.  I ask the guards to get back to the car and when they're are all in, I inform them that we're aborting the mission, though I don't tell him the real reason why. I just tell them that they've nothing to worry about since I'll be the one to tell everything to dad. Oh poor Davis! I just pray that the mean Alpha Gerald isn't dealing harshly and roughly  with him already!
