CHAPTER 23 ARES“I want my daddy,” my daughter said, sitting at a lake with her toes in the water. The boy sat next to her. “Alpha Fenris says that he is strong, but … if he is so strong, then why hasn’t he come back? Why hasn’t he come and found me yet? Alpha Fenris won’t even tell me his name.” I had been watching my daughter and the boy play fight, kiss, and then talk for the past half hour at least. Something had been happening outside of my dream—I vaguely remembered it—but I couldn’t seem to escape this reality. Tears started falling from my daughter’s face. “Do you think that they’ll ever come back?” The boy pulled her closer and rested her head on his shoulder. “I think so.” “Are you just saying that?” she asked, brows furrowed together. “No,” he said. “They’ll come back. They
