She glanced into the river and stuck her toes in the water, wincing. After a couple moments, she hummed and looked down at her feet. “I expected it to hurt.” I grabbed her hand and glanced into the rushing river that separated Hades’s kingdom from the rest of the underworld, and then I nodded to the warriors who’d decided to come with us to find Mars’s home. Most were from our pack, but there were others here, like Acesca. Taking Aurora in my arms, I lifted her into the air and stepped into the rushing water. My pack walked into the water with me until we were waist deep, pushing through the current until we reached the other side.
