Adonis and Liam had both composed themselves by now as the two stood on either side of the heiress who was staring at Anderson with contempt. Damien stood beside his brother with a stoic expression on his face.
Anderson roamed his eyes on the three men standing in Eleanor’s defense and he had to admit that he was quite surprised to see the leader of the Ravenas and one of the strongest angels ready to protect her; however, that did not waver his belief that he would have the brunette’s head by the end of the night.
“You aren’t going to succeed in your quest, Anderson,” Eleanor spoke in a steel voice but her racing heartbeat could be heard by the Ravena brothers because of their advance hearing. They could sense what she was feeling and how terrified she truly was irrespective of the front she tried to present in front of Anderson.
The fear in her voice did nothing but fuel Damien’s urge to protect her at all costs and to keep her away from anything which could threaten her life even in the slightest. He was unsure about why he was feeling this way but he just could not help it.
Anderson’s chuckle broke Damien’s reverie as he saw the middle-aged man shaking his head in a mocking manner which only enticed his rage further.
“Oh, you foolish girl,” Anderson chastised, “you can hide behind these men who think too highly of themselves and you will still not be able to save yourself from the death that awaits you. I shall offer your head to the Demon queen in return for my own wishes and nothing will stop me.” He drawled out in a proud manner.
Damien almost bit his own lip to restrain the smirk that threatened to come onto his lips listening to his monologue which sounded like a sad child’s cry for his favorite toy.
Adonis however was not going to listen to anything against his beloved Eleanor as he glared heatedly at Anderson until his eyes flashed an angry golden color. “You are mistaken if you believe that you can subdue me with a handful of mares by your side.” He hissed in anger, once again opening his wings to show his strength.
Anderson stared at the angel for a moment before his hand dived into the inner breast-pocket of his suit and he took out the glowing Elarma blade before he began twirling it in both of his hands. Liam and Eleanor watched his movements warily.
“Do you know what this is?” Anderson asked them before chuckling maniacally, “who am I kidding, of course you do. The better question would be: do you know what this can do?” He asked again.
When no one replied, Anderson’s lips twitched into a known smirk as he whispered something under his breath and before the occupants of the room could comprehend anything, dozens upon dozens of mares appeared into the room out of thin air.
Their red cloaks and bodies made out of nothing but void smoke created a deathly aura in Daniel Sparks’ study as Eleanor unknowingly shifted closer to Damien who instantly placed a protective hand on the small of her back without glancing at her. Her heart skipped a beat at the sudden, yet welcome touch but her mind was running on an overdrive of fear to ponder further.
Liam and Adonis each looked to their sides and then behind themselves to realize that they had been surrounded by an army of mares, all of whom were following Anderson’s orders.
They all knew that they could be attacked at any moment now.
“We have to get that blade away from him,” Adonis whispered to Damien who nodded as Eleanor and Liam exchanged a reassuring look before the heiress readied herself to fight the mares for the second time that night.
Her heart was grieving over the death of all of her party guests as she wondered how she was going to explain to all of the world’s media about where everyone disappeared. She could already feel a global scandal brewing.
It all happened in a blur as Anderson immediately motioned for the mares with his hand and all of them rushed towards the brunette who was now being protected by the three men on each of her sides.
“Don’t let them touch her!” Adonis yelled at the top of his lungs over all of the animalistic hisses and growls that were being produced by the mares.
Damien and Liam exchanged glares right before their streams of bright blue magic escaped their fingertips and made their way to the mares, strangling them as their magic created a blazing lasso that somehow cut right through the demons as the two began to fight.
Eleanor ducked and shielded herself with whatever she could find as she slid out another pair of knives hidden in one of the nooks around the desk as she attacked and defended herself depending on the situation until she got her hands on one of the swords which were used by a mare and this time she did not stop as she cut through the black sea of smoke that was now in the room.
Anderson was surprised seeing the brunette fight so efficiently and he was shocked to find out that his army was being overpowered by three pretentious men and a girl who did not even know her own identity.
Seeing no other option but to put in more of his powers, Anderson took a deep breath and summoned more mares knowing that his actions would have drastic consequences in the near future; as of right now, he only wanted to win.
Once the swarms of red cloaks increased in number, Eleanor realized that she might not make it through the night. Her gaze traveled to the men who were trying to protect her as she felt her heartbreak at the sight.
Adonis’ back now had endless gashes because of the number of times he had been attacked by the mares whereas Liam too was injured and now being protected by his brother. Damien was shuffling between having Liam’s back and diverting any attacks from Eleanor.
This made the brunette’s heart clench in her chest as she tightened her grip around the hilt of the sword in her own hand before she made a resolve in her head to attack and continue to do so until they were all nothing but ashes and smoke.
The heiress danced with the demons, cutting through the sea of red cloaks and monstrous eyes as she slashed her sword and shielded herself at the same time. She was not going to have any more blood on her hands. Anderson had killed her parents and endless people at her birthday party and it was now time for him to die.
She did not know where these murderous thoughts were coming from since she had clearly never been a violent person. Learning how to fight only made her gain a sense of control in her life and she had never been put in a life-threatening situation like this one.
As of now, she had blood raging through her skull and she wanted nothing more than to stop and kill the man who murdered her parents.
Damien saw how the threat from the mares had begun to lessen as Liam had healed once again and was fighting alongside him. His eyes searched for Eleanor who seemed to be having some trouble battling the mares who now surrounded her as he looked at Adonis to gesture him to assist her.
Adonis glanced at Damien before his eyes diverted to the brunette and he cursed under his breath before turning to look at the Ravena again. “Get her out of here!” He told him over all of the ruckus but Damien furrowed his brows and looked at Adonis for a double-check.
“Are you sure you will be alright?” Damien questioned looking at him as well as his brother. Adonis nodded, “the mares cannot kill either of us, just get her out of here while we hold them off.” He repeated.
With one reassuring glance from Liam, Damien shook his head and instantly dashed over to Eleanor’s side, surprising the brunette by taking her in his arms as a flash of lightning was seen and instantly the two disappeared leaving the mares and Anderson baffled to their core.
