“Okay, Belinda,” Sarah said. “Can I get something to wear until I get my clothes back?” Belinda turned her head and looked back over her shoulder at Sarah. “There’s some stuff stored away in the cellar,” she said. “You can go rummage through that, I guess.” “Thanks,” Sarah said. “How do I get down to the cellar?” Belinda sighed wearily and moved away from the coffee maker. She made Sarah move off of the thick braided rug she’d been standing on and pulled the rug back. There was a trapdoor underneath it. Belinda lifted it open. Sarah saw wooden steps leading down into the darkness. “Is there a light down there?” she asked. “Here.” Belinda opened a kitchen drawer and pulled out a black metal flashlight. “Here’s your f*****g light.” “Thank you,” Sarah said politely as she accepted it.
