"B-but,"
Mia's heart pounds like a drum upon hearing Liam's command. Is he being serious right now? Does he really need to be n*ked?!
"Are you complaining?!" he asked her with a frown. Liam's face showed impatience once more.
She immediately shook her head. "N-no, I mean, yes." her voice cracked. She didn't know how to explain herself.
Liam shook his head in agony at her answer.
"Oh c'mon, Mia, you're being too slow! It's not like you're innocent, are you innocent when it comes to the male body, huh? You are a nurse, right?" He asked with a smirk on his face as if he couldn't believe it.
Mia remained speechless. Assessing whether she will be able to take care of Liam. It seems that the man wants to drain her boundaries as a woman, there are so many things running through her mind at that moment, things that she thought ended up in her fantasy world.
"Allright, I'm done. You can leave my house now, Miss Salazar. I think you are not worth the salary. Duke doesn't really know you, you are just an ignorant nurse who's too slow and worthless."
Mia gasped at what she heard. She didn't expect the hurtful words she would hear from him, especially on the first day of her job.
"Sir, it's not like that. I-I'm just afraid-"
She tries to explain herself but Liam doesn't seem to listen.
"I said leave!" He shouted. His face suddenly turned red.
Mia felt too little. She really doesn't have the privileges to talk about how she feels or thinks. She must know that! But she can't accept the fact that this man doesn't have any respect at all.
She came out of the bathroom almost crying, took her bag from the top of the bed and completely left Liam's room. For the first time, she became emotional. Does money allow those rich people to verbally abuse the needy one's like her?
She came across Thelma who was cleaning the living room. The old lady didn't seem surprised to see her almost crying while going down the stairs. Thelma understandably approached her, gently took her by the arm and asked her to sit on the couch next to them.
"You know, he's been this hard after both of his parents died in different tragedies. He tried to end his life but I saved him. While in the hospital, his friend, Duke finds out that he suffers a mild stroke that leads him to locked in syndrome. Luckily, after months of therapy, he managed to speak well. But Liam changed a lot after that. He needs time, Mia. He needs someone who will understand him though he always pushes anyone away. He falls so deep in darkness where he can't find any reason to live."
Mia had a glimpse of knowledge about Liam's condition. Duke informed her even before she accepted the contract, but knowing the reason behind it, some kind of sadness enveloped her heart. She's also having a difficult time but it's not like what Liam's had to go through. Now she finally understands him.
"I- I don't know what to say, Thelma. doesn't he have siblings?"
Thelma shook her head and smiled painfully.
"He has nothing but you, me and Duke, Mia. I'm glad he finally thought of getting a nurse to help him. It saddened me watching him let alone himself. As if he's only living because he's still breathing. Please help him, Mia.."
Thelma almost begged her. As if she already knew that she's leaving.
Mia smiled and nodded.
"I'll try what I can do."
Thelma's face immediately lit up, then she immediately hugged her while tapping her back.
"Don't hesitate to talk to me if you feel down, okay? I'll help you understand him."
Mia just nodded again.
It's not about her triple salary anymore, her patient needs more than what she studied for. Liam needs emotional support and a reason to live his second life.
She decided to get her things and fixed it up in her room. The room is located before Liam's. Then, she wears her nurse uniform and gets everythings ready. She promised herself to not get affected by hearing the hurtful words Liam was throwing at her.
Instead, she will play along with him until he voluntarily surrenders.
She faced the whole body mirror before leaving the room. She took a deep sighed, then, painted a wide smile on her face. Now, she's ready..
She walked into Liam's room without knocking. She hears the shower running so she decides to look for him inside the bathroom. But before entering the door, she filled her chest with air, forcing herself to believe that she's ready for what's inside.
That one step to cross the bedroom and bathroom was one of the very hard decisions she thought she made. She knows she's overreacting but she can't lie to what she truly feels. She's attracted to Liam's body from the moment she has seen him undress.
Without noise, she came in.
From the glass door outside, she's seeing a vivid bulk of a man sitting inside. He's not even moving..
Mia is forced not to waste time again. She bravely opened the shower door. Her heart seems to stop beating upon seeing Liam's situation.
He's sitting still while the water keeps running down his body. His eyes focused on one direction, loneliness and emptiness is what those eyes are saying.
"S-sir," She called his attention but he just looked at her without emotion.
She immediately smiled and acted faster.
She swallows all the fear she feels and approaches Liam to follow what he had been telling her earlier. She didn't mind the strong and cold pouring of water, she knelt in front of Liam and gently lowered his shorts and boxers..
She couldn't help herself but swallowed a few more times as the most hidden part of Liam's body gradually exposed to her. Until his manliness is finally given a chance to escape from being covered. Mia's face immediately turned red. When she looked up to Liam, she saw him grinning at her..
