“What do you mean, ask the boy?” Luci's words were a barely mumbled whisper, and Cern jerked. He really had let his guard down. How had he not noticed Luci had awakened? The Chaos God grinned and Cern gritted his teeth. Why did he have the funny feeling it had something to do with the Fox?
“Well, the child is part of her, partly created from her energy. Additionally, he's still young, and most children seem to have an uncanny knack for wanting their mothers. Make him want her badly enough, I'm sure he'll use his abilities without thinking about it to find her.” The Chaos God smiled around his fork.
“And how am I supposed to make my son want his mother?” Cern growled. The Fox shrugged.
“Give it long enough and I'm sure it'll happen naturally. But wait too long, and who knows what Bel or his relations might do.” The Chaos God gestured with his chin over his shoulder where Lugus and his grandfather had disappeared. Cern balled his hands into fists and considered how much trouble he would stir up if he started a fight with the Fox. “Oh ho ho! I wouldn't do that, my dear Stag! Remember, Chaos is my specialty. Fighting tends to work in my favor and if not...” The Fox disappeared and reappeared right behind Cern. He gave Cern a shove with his hip and Cern stumbled forward. “I can usually manipulate things to my advantage.” The Fox disappeared again and Cern roared a wordless scream of frustration.
“Enough!” Cern yelled, then froze. Sage was crying at the table.
“Mommy!” He sobbed. “Want mommy!”
“There's your chance.” The Chaos God grinned. Cern rushed to the table to soothe his son, tossing a glare over his shoulder at the Fox.

“What am I supposed to do with this?” Rafe asked Janus, holding the pouch of stones he'd been given.
“Look, I know you and your Mistress don't necessarily believe or subscribe to the crystal and stone form of practice, and that's fine. Everyone's talents work differently, but these work for me, and I know your former Master used some stones and crystals in his workings.” Janus gripped Rafe's hand, closing it around the pouch.
“Not to great success.” Rafe tsked.
“Even so. This is peridot. It is good for protection. You are a Spiritual Being, and unlike most, very in-tune with the spiritual balance of things around you. Please, just, for me, familiarize yourself with their resonance, then spread them around the house. They might help alert you if someone comes looking for you.” Janus urged. He looked nervous, his eyes kept darting around and Rafe suddenly frowned.
“What are you not telling us Healer?” Rafe murmured softly.
“You've been feeling the effects of the changes you've made to the time-line, yes? I can't remember, everything is different in my head from one moment to the next. Did I see you just a few days ago? Didn't I? Someone visited me recently, I'm certain of it. But I can't remember the details. Just... be careful.” Janus squeezed Rafe's hand around the pouch one more time before letting go, gaze searching their surroundings one more time before he paced away and vanished into a portal back to his own plane. Rafe felt a chill creep down his spine. Perhaps it was time he told Phoebie not to venture outside by herself.
“And not to let the kids out alone either.” He spoke out loud to himself abruptly, turning on a heel and striding purposefully inside with a determination born of fear.

Bel had his fingers tangled in Emma's hair, he was clinging to her tightly and she leaned her head back to look up at him. His head was tilted back, eyes closed, a pained expression on his face. She reached out a finger to trace his face, and he let their bodies fall to the ground, carrying them to their knees before he opened his eyes again to look at her.
“You should get away from me while you still can.” Bel told her quietly. “While I'm in control.” Emma shook her head.
“I promised to help you, that's what I'm going to do.” Emma replied. Bel groaned again, squeezing his eyes closed. He leaned his head forward to touch his forehead to hers. Emma didn't wait for an invitation, after a beat or two she changed the angle of the way their faces met and kissed him. Bel gave a low moan of protest before wrapping his hand more securely in her hair and tugging her against him more tightly. She let her hands fall to his chest and hover there for a moment, before wandering. The kiss deepened and Bel let Emma push him backwards onto the ground. She lay on his chest for a moment, both of them breathing heavily, his hand still wrapped in her hair.
“You don't have to do this.” He murmured to her, looking into her eyes. Her lips were mere inches from his, he felt his eyelids slide halfway closed and begin to glaze over. Emma was already funneling energy into him, and it was overpowering after practically starving for so long. He writhed.
“No, but I want to.” She answered, sitting up, straddling his lower abdomen to peel off her shirt. She grabbed one of his hands and placed it over her heart. “Can you feel my love for you now Bel? Can you tell that I'm telling you the truth?” He moaned as she leaned forward and kissed him again, then slipped out of her underwear and pulled up her skirt. “I'm sorry I'm not doing a better job of this Bel, but I'm a little desperate now.” Emma panted. Her Bel was back, she hadn't seen him in years. YEARS, and as she pushed his waistband past his hips and gripped his arousal, he bucked, thrusting up into her hand, biting off a shout, and she knew, she KNEW it had been just as hard to be separated for him as it had for her. She brought them together and Bel's eyes flew open and he gripped her hips, suddenly unable to control himself any longer. He thrust into her as he brought her down, and then flipped them over so he could drive himself into her over and over again, his hips driving against hers and making her cry out until they both found release. Bel collapsed over her, barely holding his weight off of Emma, he placed his forehead against hers again briefly before rolling to his side and dragging her into his arms, absorbing the lingering energy he pulled from the lust they had shared.
“Yes, I feel your truth. I feel your love.” He whispered, and kissed her forehead as the last of it faded away. Reluctantly, he let her go and stood up, pulling at and straightening his clothes. “Which is why you should stay far away from me.” He said coldly without looking at her. “Until I can regain control of my Demon half. I... was in Hell for a long time Emma. I was tortured for so long I lost myself. The only way I could get out was to give him... it control. It's been too long, I've forgotten how to be me. You're not safe around me. Go home Emma. Live your new life. I release you.” Bel faded into the trees as Emma cried out, holding a hand out to him, trying to get him to come back. She felt their connection shatter and her whole body felt like it had broken. How could he do this? She screamed his name and dressed numbly. What was she going to do? The greatest love of her life had just walked away, and taken her heart with him.
