“I need to go through some papers and what-not, for Mama,” Will said to the others after lunch. “I haven’t been back for a long time and there are some things she needs me to look at and sign. She said it wasn’t urgent, but it was important.”
Alec nodded. “I need to get back to Wapping,” he said. “I’ll telephone and tell them I’ll be back tomorrow, if I may. Lew and I can drive back tonight. If you think it’s safe, Fenn?”
Fenn nodded. “I think so. Ana seemed fairly certain there would be no more attempts.”
Tyler nodded. “That’ll be good, then. I’m supposed to be at the races tomorrow. Photographing hats.” His face was glum.
“I need to stay for a few days, I think,” Will said. “Mama…”
Alec nodded. “You should, old man. Settle things.”
Will didn’t reply.
