Chapter 2 Ulric POV

1265 Words
I figured it was about time I called my friend and Beta into the office and had a serious talk with him. It had been twelve years since he sent his six-year-old son to his brother-in-law's pack in Europe. I loved that kid like he was my son and I miss him. I still remember watching the four pups, my three children and Angel, my Beta's son, play on my office floor. I went against my Beta's decision to send his son away, but I understand my friend's decision. He had just lost his mate and didn't feel the strength to be my Beta and father at the same time. I never thought he'd let his son reach adulthood far away. So I decided to intervene. When there was a knock on the door, I knew it was him. Rat-tat-tat - You may come in. - Alpha! - Brady greets, showing his neck. - Sit down, old friend. We have to talk. I could see in Brady's face that he had no idea what I wanted to talk about, and that was good, it was going to take him by surprise. - I wanted to ask you if you don't think it's time for Angel to come home. He should have already started training, or don't you want the boy to be my son's Beta? - You're right, Ulric –. My friend answers me and rubs his face with his hands. – every time I talk to him by video call, I intend to tell him to come back, but the boy is happy in England, he has his friends and studies there. I'm always indecisive and never say anything. - You know very well that he also talks to my children. The distance did not stop their friendship. I even talk to him from time to time. He's a good boy, but he doesn't belong in his uncle's pack. He belongs to our pack, and should replace you when you retire. - I told him, showing the greatest of convictions. - I'll call him today and ask him to prepare for his return. After all this time, I don't even know if he wants to come back. - He will come back. He knows his future is to be my son's Beta. He belongs in the Lycan Moon Pack. I let my friend go and do his Beta duties and I sat there thinking. Honestly, I imagined the boy had his whole life in the River Ash Pack, and that was going to be a hard decision to be back, but a alfa can only hope. Moving from a pack like that to ours wasn't going to be an easy change. They lived in a modern way. They had built a village in the middle of the forest, with everything that any other human village has. Cafes, bars, clubs, and even a shopping mall. All things young people love. My pack, despite not being small or poor, lived more humbly. We have a hospital, which is basically a maternity home, where our children are born. We werewolves rarely turn to doctors. We have a large gym where our members go to train and improve their physique. We have a school which serves students from the first year until they finish high school. And we have several villas where our more than five hundred members live. We are not a small pack, that, we are not. About three hundred and fifty are trained to fight and the rest are old people, children and people who work different jobs. We have bakers, farmers, hunters, cooks, and all professions needed for the survival of a large pack. But when a young person wants to have fun in a bar or disco, he has to travel many miles to get there. Don't get me wrong, I could have all this done here in the pack, but I don't want to. Maybe one day my son, when he's alpha,'ll do it. My pack would undoubtedly be a major lifestyle change for Angel. My hope is that, before he's a young man, he's a werewolf, and we're social people. He'll want to come home, I'm sure. I decided to stop thinking about it and pay attention to the documents in front of me. In addition to Alfa, I was also the CEO of a large company, whose headquarters were in the middle of Wall Street. It was the pack's biggest source of income. Everyone received money for their personal expenses, and food was free. There were no poor people here and I, as an alpha, had to do my best to keep the money coming in. I basically work from home, and my PA, a human who is aware of our existence, spends time traveling by helicopter between the pack and the company, letting me know when I actually have to show up for business meetings and matters that I can only decide on. To be completely honest, I would be lost without my PA, and I'm grateful that humans like him exist. I still have high hopes that among our members, someone recognizes him as a mate, but that doesn't matter now. He wants me to turn him into a werewolf, and I probably will, soon. I was rereading an account report when my Beta contacted me through maidlink. “Ulric, I just spoke to my son. He promised to return to the pack within two weeks. He says he wants to finish high school and say goodbye to his friends.” “That is excellent news, my friend.” When I ended the maidlink, I couldn't help but smile. I should have pushed Brady to do this a long time ago. I decided to tell my Luna. “Raven, I have good news. Angel will come home soon.” “When?” – she asks me happily. “Within two weeks. Brady just told me. You have to organize a welcome party for him.” "I got it. Let it to me" - my mate answers me. I closed the maidlink and went back to the documents, but still smiling. When my middle son slams the door and walks in without waiting for me to answer, I have to take a deep breath to keep myself from throwing a stapler at his head. - You need help dad - he told me, making me forget the irritation. This son of mine was the only one with a business liking. The others spent their free time on the training ground or playing silly games. He loves to sit next to me, reading and analyzing documents. - Help is always welcome. - I answered him. He gives me a big smile, which I love, and sits down across from me, hands outstretched. I always have to laugh at his eagerness to read and review documents. - These documents are from a business proposal. I don't know if the proposal is very advantageous for us. Can you review and give me your opinion? - I told him, passing a folder into his hands. I'm not closing this deal, but I want to hear Dominic's opinion. He takes the documents from my hand and immediately starts studying them with a very serious face. I'm a lucky parent. - Do you want to know very good news? He immediately looked at me and nodded. - Angel will be coming home when he finishes high school, which is to say, in two weeks. - vacations? - my son asked me. . No. Forever.
