Back inside the pack house…
Elijah’s POV
I passed by the Omega and swiftly made my way to Benjamin's room, but not before I took one more look at her. I took the stairs two at a time to quickly put some distance between the two of us. I felt suddenly drawn to her, which is weird. As I entered Benjamin's room, I noticed him seated at his desk, reviewing some paperwork. "That Omega is strange," I exclaimed. "She just gives me these odd looks." There was an irresistible attraction that overwhelmed me whenever I laid eyes on her. Today, she appeared exceptionally beautiful, although such an admission remained locked within me. It was as if she could sense it too, creating an unusual tension between us. Deep within, my primal instinct awakened as I fixated upon her. I felt a strange and compelling urge to safeguard her.
"She does that with everyone, Eli. I believe she's feeling out of place, which is understandable because she doesn't have a wolf," Benjamin explained and brought me out of my thoughts. "In a way, I feel bad for her. She tries hard to do what we all do but sometimes it's like she is just lost and confused."
“Yeah, that’s true. You're right. She is more like a human, than a wolf.” I sat down on the chair and glanced around the room.
“I just wish my parents would banish her. She goes through so much at school between bullying. Hell I am even guilty of it. It’s like I can’t stop myself.” Benjamin flipped through some papers. “Maybe when I am Alpha, I will banish her to live in the human world.” He pondered.
“Are you not worried that she will be a threat to other neighboring packs? I mean, she lives in the pack house. Yeah, your parents converted a large closet into her room, but she probably hears more than what we give her credit for. She’s just there, in the background. Cooking, cleaning, and listening. Wherever we are, she is there just in the background.” I told him.
“You’re right, you’re right.” He said as he frowned while he was reading.
“There is something weird about her though. Something strange. I can’t pinpoint it but it is weird.” I said.
Suddenly, Benjamin's sister, Jane, burst into the room, startling everyone with her sudden entrance. Being a year younger than him, she possessed a captivating allure that left everyone in awe. Her luscious, flowing blonde hair had a mesmerizing quality, seemingly moving on its own accord with every step she took. Her enchanting hazel eyes had a way of capturing hearts, holding your gaze in an irresistible embrace. Moreover, her flawless sun-kissed skin was like a work of art, radiating an irresistible glow. As she entered the room, her vibrant energy filled the space, drawing all eyes to her graceful movements. There was an aura of confidence and poise that emanated from her, captivating everyone around her.
"What's the plan, guys?" she inquired.
"Plan?" I inquired, swiveling my chair to face her directly.
"Yeah, involving that foolish Omega? Have you not told him yet brother?” She asked as she lay across the bed on her stomach.
"No, I had second thoughts about going through with it. Besides, our parents would be livid. I'm turning eighteen soon, and if they discover that we played this trick on her, they'll be out for our blood." Benjamin told Jane.
“What is going on?” I asked as I looked between the two of them.
Jane cut Benjamin off when he began to say nothing, “We were going to lure her to the cafe on her birthday. It’s what next week?” She looked over at Benjamin who nodded. “Anyway, we were going to lure her there with a secret admirer note and when she get’s there I was going to accidentally spill something sticky on her. I mean it will be all over her.” Jane laughed.
“You going to throw the classic feathers on her too?” I chuckled.
“You know what? That is a great idea! That’s why I know we are meant to be.” She batted her lashes at me and I smiled.
“This is crazy.” I told her.
“And stupid. We are going to get caught by our parents.” Benjamin said.
“So what.” Jane shot an annoyed glance at him.
“You know that training the following weeks are going to be brutal.” Benjamin looked at her trying to convince her it was a bad idea.
“It would be well worth all the running and fighting we would have to endure.” Jane said. “Besides training is getting boring. I am ready for a switch up.”
“Okay I am in.” I told Jane and she smiled, sat up on the bed and practically lunged into my arms.
Benjamin sighed “Okay you two. I guess I am in too. Now knock it off or take it elsewhere. Some of us have actual work to do.”
Jane slid out of my lap walked over to Ben and smacked the back of his head, “Please I am saving myself for when we are finally mated when I turn eighteen.”
“Okay! Let’s go get some lunch. I am starving.” Benjamin stood up, annoyed. We all followed suit and went down to make some lunch.
Olivia POV
I entered the pack house with bags of groceries to restock the fridge. I hummed a sweet melody of my own creation as I stepped into the kitchen. The sound of their animated conversation reached my ears, but I paid no attention, focused on the task of unpacking and arranging the items in the neatly organized kitchen. I heard footsteps behind me and I turned to look at who was approaching. It was Jane, the daughter of the Alpha and Luna.
"Olivia!" she said in an overly sweet tone.
"Hello, Jane," I replied with a smile. "Can I get you anything or make you anything?"
"Oh, no, I'm good," she said, taking a seat at the island chairs. "I overheard my parents discussing your eighteenth birthday. It's next week, right?" she asked, showing genuine interest. Which set off all kind of alarms because Jane did not care about anyone but herself. If it didn't benefit her in some way, she would avoid whatever it was entirely.
“Yes, it is. Why do you ask?” I asked her. I was wondering if it was just someway to make her seem better than she actually is.
"We were just talking about the idea of celebrating your birthday. I understand that things have been difficult and we haven't always seen eye to eye. However, we would really like to treat you to dinner at the café and have some cake with you. I'm even willing to ask Mom and Dad to give you the day off. What do you think?" Her smile brightened as she looked at me.
I returned her gaze and smiled back. I nodded and replied, "That sounds like a great plan. I'll be there if the Alpha and Luna agree to it." It felt strange. I couldn't quite comprehend why she was being so kind to me. Something seemed out of place. I watched as she happily stood up from the table.
"Great, I'll inform my brother and Elijah," she mentioned before walking away.
As the kitchen door closed behind her, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of disappointment. Ever since my parents passed away, she had never shown me any kindness. Not even a single smile. Whenever she glanced at me, it was always filled with contempt and animosity. I always wondered what had made her so hostile towards me. Was it something I had done in the past, or was there something else going on that I was unaware of? Better yet, why was she suddenly being so kind to me?
After a deep sigh, I returned to the bustling kitchen. I diligently prepared dinner and meticulously cleaned as I cooked for the pack. Carefully serving their meals and drinks, I ensured everything was in perfect order. Finally, I made a small plate and a drink for myself and retreated to my room to savor a solitary meal. As I sat down at my small desk, I looked out the window and watched the moon rise over the horizon, casting a serene glow over the quiet landscape. The peaceful solitude of the moment was a welcome reprieve from the hectic pace of the day.
I closed my eyes and silently offered a heartfelt prayer over my food, hoping for my inner wolf to emerge and for love and friendship to come my way. As I opened my eyes, a sense of peace washed over me, and I felt a subtle shift in the energy around me. Little did I know, my humble request would soon be answered in the most unexpected way.
