BETA'S FATE

Pearl's POV (Continuation of Epilogue of Beta's Chosen) My entire last five years rewinded themselves in my mind. My first rejection at the age eighteen. Falling in love with a Beta of second strongest pack in werewolf world. Carrying his child for months. Then killing the Beta the same day I delivered his child. Everything that flashed through that memory lane right now is screaming at me that this is not happening. I close my eyes for a few seconds. And when I open them, he is still there. The Alpha of The Silver Salt Pack. The pack that everyone fears. He is just staring at me and he looks like he is trying to read my situation. My legs are glued to the floor. My eyes are locked on him. My body is pretty much frozen. Of everyone to give the gift of second chance mate, Moon Goddess chose me.! That too to pair me up with another Alpha? This got to be some sick joke!! "Pearl?" I hear Ryan's voice and I look at him. "Uhh ... Yeah. Yeah? Did I miss something?" I ask him and he tilts his head towards the crowd. Of course! Of course I did not even talk anything yet. And it has been few minutes since I am made the Beta of The Sundown Pack. Through the corner of my eye I see him talking to Nova. Now my Luna and his sister. I close my eyes for a second before facing the crowd. They all have smiles on their faces. "Thank you so much for choosing me as your Beta even though, at times I don't really believe that myself. I come from a different pack. I come from a different background. I did a horrible thing before taking this Beta position. And you all still stood beside me. I cannot describe how grateful I am to you. But I can show it through my actions and be the best Beta you all deserve" I say and bow to them once before they all bow to me. Ryan throws a hand over me and I smile at him. The crowd goes crazy and I smile at all of them as they stand on their feet back again. I look at Vincent and he is waving at me. I wave my hand asking him to come to me and he runs to me by pulling his hand away from Nova's. I kneel down and when he runs into my arms, I lift him up and kiss both his cheeks. His black eyes and brown hair reminds me of Trevor. This boy is soo going to grow up and look like him. "So now you are the Beta's son" I say and my son giggles. I know he doesn't even know the term yet but I just want to keep talking so I would have less time in my hands to look at the man who seems to be my second chance mate. "Congratulations, Pearl!" Nova squeals. "Beta Pearl!!!" Selena hypes me up even more. "Okay okay you guys.! Now you are embarassing me" I whisper but they all chant my name and my rank more than ever. Ryan takes Vincent from my arms and makes him sit on his shoulders. With Vincent's tiny hands in his, they are just jumping chanting my name. Yes! Way to go guys.!! Embarass me even more. "Alright alright. This is it. I am heading to the food section" I scoff and get down the platform only to bump into the man. Wow. What a day to embarrass myself once again! I raise my head and I see a pair of green eyes already staring at me. Our bodies are still touching and I feel sparks, electricity, fireworks and everything else that can make me high. Well, at this moment I would prefer drugs instead of matebond to get high so I pull away. "Sorry" I whisper and walk away without even turning around. "Do you even have a reason why you don't want a mate?" Mist asks me. "Oooh! Where shall I start stating with the reasons? First shall we talk about the heartbreaks with the two most trusted people we ever met? One rejected us and another is dead. Or shall we talk about how our life is perfect now and we don't want to mess it by accepting another mate and getting our hearts broken now?" I ask her back. Alright. Now about giving this a chance and-" "Mist! You should understand that there is no such thing as giving it a chance and then seeing how it goes. He is an Alpha. To the most toughest pack in the werewolf world. For all I know he can be having anyone he wants so he should not have a problem with rejection. Moreover I have a kid. He is going to let it go soon. I should just see when that soon arrives" I say. "But Pearl-" Our chat ended abruptly when I bump into his chest again. The sparks make it evident that it is him again. Oh wow now he is following me? Very nice. I look at him and he has wide smile on his face. A smile that also looks as smirk. How does he do that? Can someone do both at the same time? Wait, I should be glaring at him what am I thinking? I raise my eyebrow hoping he can give me his explanation. "I am sorry. I was just standing here watching you because it's amusing how you can walk in circles" he smirks and I turn around. I close my eyes and mentally slap my own self realising I was indeed walking in circles. I was mindlinking and talking to my wolf I did not realise which direction I was walking. Okay. Now this is embarassing once again. I bet today I woke up at the worst time where people who wake up at that minute has the worst day ever! I contemplate and try to find words. I need to talk. I need to say something but I don't know what to say. But thankfully, someone comes to my rescue. I feel their arm around me, on shoulder of course. I turn sideways to see it's Shane. "I was searching for you!" He says and I smile. "Oh! Oh Shane. Care to join me? I am hungry" I say and I might have exaggerated the hungry part because he looks at me differently. And I know I never exaggerated about anything before. But I hope he takes the hint. "Yeah. Yeah sure if that's what you are asking" he nods. "Alpha.!" Shane bows to the man before me and I try my best resisting the eye roll. "I see you have friends here other than Nova" the man says. "Yes, Alpha. She is Pea-" "Shane please! I am hungry. Come" I cut him off mid sentence and just drag him towards the table full of food. "Nice to meet you pea" I can hear him scream behind me and I just roll my eyes this time. "I need a moment. I am sorry" I apologise Shane and walk out of that scene. I look around the crowd to find that familiar face. God! Where does she vanish to whenever I need her the most? I ask few people and they all point at different directions. Very well. Nice way to find her. I finally see her playing with Vincent and Ryan feeding her some fresh strawberries. "Nova!! I need to talk to you" I scream for her. "Then come here. Vince is here too" she screams back. "If that was the plan do you think I would waste my energy screaming for you?" I shout and she laughs before giving Vincent to Ryan and walking to me. "I need to tell you something. And I really appreciate it if you understand. Okay?" I ask her. "Oh My God! Shut up" she smiles wide and slaps my arm playfully. "What?" "I can understand. You are pregnant again, aren't you? Is it Shane?" She asks. "What? No! God no!!! What the heck is wrong with you.? Shane visited today. Moreover why will I get pregnant again?" I ask her and she smirks. "Then tell me soon so I can get back there and let my husband feed me strawberries. Because clearly, this is not entertaining enough" she says and looks dead in my eyes. "Alright. This is already hard for me to tell you. So don't make this anymore hard" I say and exhale running both my hands through my wild red mane. "Now you are starting to scare me" she says and I just scoff. "Alright. I saw your brother earlier when I was taking the Beta title. And .." I clear my throat unable to say what I actually wanted to say, "and you know .. I just" "Hello Pea!" His voice cuts me off and I just stare at him while he is just smirking at me.
