The three of them managed to find me some kind of tarp, and taught me how to turn it into a tent a few days after meeting them. I was grateful for that. Every day, the three of us go for walks around the forest. Red has shown me a few things that are edible for me, and a few things that are not. So, if I ever get lost, I should be able to survive. We also go down to the river at least once a day. I fill up the regular sized cup they have. Green somehow found a large bucket one day. I have no idea where they found these things, or how he even dragged them all the way here. It has come in handy to carry water back to our home though. I've been picking up on their language over the last few weeks too. There are a few things that I understand, but most of it still sounds like gibberish to me. Still, I'm learning, and I have time to learn now. Being away from the Light Elf kingdom has been so freeing. I no longer have to be a slave to people who abuse me. I don't have to take beatings, or deal with Gildor. I even get to eat better out here than I did there. I never want to go back. I have to make sure that I'm never found. Part of me has wondered what took place when they all found me missing. I'm sure the other servants have been complaining about having to do my chores. I wonder if Uncle cared at all. This probably worked out better for him. Now he doesn't have to kill me. Another part of me is still terrified. What if Uncle sent guards after me? What if he wanted to make sure I stayed silent about the abuse? What if there are guards out here right now looking for me? I'm starting to fear that I will never get through this. I will never be okay. I will be living in fear for the rest of my life. So, I started trying to practice my magic more. Now that I'm fed on a daily basis, and I don't have to work every second of the day and night, I have time. I try my best, but nothing ever happens. Well, sometimes I can get a big gust of wind to blow. There has been one time that a small lightning bolt shot from the sky, landing on Blue's foot. I count that as a fluke though. Elves don't control lightning. Elves have control over the four elements. Water, earth, fire, and air. Elanor used to tell me stories when I was very little about some Elves being able to control more. She said that the first three Elves in existence were more powerful than the others. These Elves each had a special power. On top of controlling the elements, one could control snow and ice. Another could control the clouds in the sky and lightning. And the last one could control spirit, which meant he could control people as well. Elanor said that they were brothers. The one controlling the snow was the oldest and wisest. He was the one that created the Light Elves. She told me that he was said to be a kind hearted man with great leadership skills. He was kind to all living creatures, and everyone adored him. The second oldest was the brother who controlled lightning. He was the creator of the Dark Elves. He was known for his battle strategy and strength. Although he seemed like a brute, he was a gentle man. He only killed when he had to, and he protected his people. The youngest brother was the one to control spirit. Elanor said that it was told he came into his power very late in life. After almost losing one of his older brothers, a power shot out from within him. They said that the power was so intense that it wiped out every living creature for miles. I guess after that power was released that brother couldn't handle it though. They said that he started to grow mad with power. He started to take over peoples' bodies, forcing them to do his bidding. The story ended with the other two brothers having to come together to kill their youngest beloved brother. I can't even imagine how hard that must have been for them. Well, these are just stories I guess. No other Elf in history has been able to control snow, lightning, or spirit. I'm not even sure anyone believes there was an Elf that ever could. Tugging at my dress brought my attention down. Blue smiled up at me. I smiled back at him as he handed me something. "For m-me?" I asked. Blue nodded, and I took the item out of his hand. It's that same gem that he had given me the first day they brought me home. Now though, it's wrapped in twine so that I can wear it like a necklace. I beamed at Blue before slipping it over my head. "Thank you Blue. I l-love it." I told him. My stuttering has also gotten better since I've been with these three. I'm sure that it's mostly due to me not being so afraid every second of the day. It still happens though. Not that my friends care at all. Blue gave me a single nod before going back to play with Green. We've been at the river for a few hours now. It's a nice warm day, perfect for relaxing. Other animals have come and gone to get drinks, or dive into the river. I find it strange that not one of them has cared about my presence. Maybe they just sense that I mean no harm. Or that I'm too weak to do anything anyway. I looked back at my three friends. I will forever be grateful to them. They gave me a life. They saved my life. I wish I could repay their kindness. Red caught me staring. He paused in their running around to stare at me. I smiled at him, and he smiled back. And then something horrific happened. An arrow came out of no where, striking Red right through the side of his head. Blue and Green stopped running as they watched their friend fall to the ground lifeless. Blue-colored blood spilled onto the ground from Red's little body. The other two rushed to their friend, but I stayed frozen. How did this happen? Who did this? Why..? Suddenly, a large creature came running from the trees. He's probably eight feet tall with a huge build. He's a completely blue creature with sharp teeth and no nose. He only had a rag covering his private parts. I watched in shock as he snatched up Blue and Green by their little legs. "You flithy creatures! You're the ones that have been stealing from us!" The man shouted. The two squirmed and babbled. I stood up ready to beg for their freedom. Whatever I have to do to make sure they live. I had only taken a breath.. The giant man grabbed each of them in either hand, and squeezed. I heard the sickening sound of their tiny bones crushing. Blue blood splattered all across the man and the trees around him. My vision tunneled as the man dropped Blue and Green. He finally turned around, noticing me. I couldn't take my eyes off of my friends. "My, my, who do we have here? A Dark Elf? What's a pretty little thing like you doin' this far in the woods?" He asked. My body started to tremble as I stared at my lifeless friends. Why does this keep happening? I ran away. This isn't supposed to happen anymore. We were supposed to live together forever. This happened because I couldn't save them. I can't control the elements like the rest of the Elves. I'm not a healer like my mother was. I'm not a fighter like most Dark Elves are. I'm weak. Useless. My friends died because I couldn't do anything. A sob tore from my chest as the man approached me. I can't move. My feet are rooted to the ground, my eyes rooted to my dead friends. "You're going to come back with me. To the nest of the Ogers," the man said. Ogers? Is that what he is? Are Ogers normally so vicious? The Oger grabbed my arm. My body finally reacted, and I shook myself free. I stumbled back, tripping over the edge of the river, and falling in. It's only a couple of feet deep though, so my head didn't even go under. The Oger laughed at my silly attempt to escape him. He marched into the water as I scrambled back. I don't even know what I'm trying to run for. I have no where to go. My friends.. My friends are dead. Those poor creatures were the first to ever show me kindness since Elanor. My life has been so lonely. I didn't even know how lonely I really was until I met these three little creatures. And now they're gone.. "Don't fight me girl. You cannot win, and you cannot run," The Oger said. A feeling that I have never experienced before suddenly took over my body. I looked up at the Oger. He smirked down at me. "This is all your fault!" I shouted. Though, my voice doesn't sound normal to me. "You took them away from me!" I screeched. The Oger laughed, like my little ouburst was hilarious to him. I'm sure it was. I'm less than half his size. I stood up in the water as this emotion grew inside of me. The Oger stopped laughing, and looked at me strangely. As if he's trying to figure out what I am. He took a step back, and I looked at my friends one last time. I threw my head back. If this is how things are going to end for me.. I want to let it out. While I still can. Before I'm taken, and the Ogers do.. Gods know what to me. So, I screamed. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and for as long as I could. I screamed for Elanor, for Red and Blue and Green. I screamed until my throat burned. And something strange happened. Power burst out of me, shooting into the sky. It's invisible to the naked eye, but I can feel that power bursting out of me. The air around us grew cold, and the river started to freeze. I looked back at the Oger as he started to look around in fear. "Just what are yo-" His words were cut off by lightning striking down on him. A large bolt, that I'm shocked didn't affect me at all. I watched as the Oger's body spasmed. I can smell his burnt flesh as he cooks. The lightning finally stopped. The Oger fell into the river. His body is completely blackened, and there is smoke rising from him. The sudden chill in the air was replaced by the warmth that was previously here. And the power finally stopped bursting out of me. Tears streamed down my face as I wobbled out of the river. I stepped over the dead Ogers' body, and nearly lost my balance. I struggled to make it to my dead friends. I fell to my knees in front of their little bodies. I tried to gather them up, but my body suddenly became too heavy to move. I fell to the ground in a heap. No. I have to gather more strength. I have to bury their bodies. Give them proper peace. I just need to move. Please move. Please... I reached out for Red's little body. I just barely grazed my fingers across him. Then everything went dark.
