Chapter 10: Axton's P.O.V.

2079 Words
Well, it's been over a year now since the whole mess with Kee. Things have finally started to settle down, but it still feels like everyone is uneasy. I don't understand it honestly. Kee can clearly handle herself. She's more than shown lately that she's truly healing. Thanks to Callum I'm sure. Stupid, arrogant Angel. "Stop thinking about my mate like that before I bury you alive." I jumped a foot in the air at the sound of my sister's voice. "For fu.ck's sake Kee. You scared the sh.it out of me." I said. Kee beamed at me. "Good. Now stop being an a.ss." She said. I scoffed at her. "At least I have an a.ss." I mumbled. Kee laughed bitterly. "Where?" She asked. "Right here." I said as I turned around to wiggle my butt at her. Kee laughed, making me smile. She never used to do that. I find myself acting more like Alessio these days just to make her laugh. "You're an idiot." She said. "Yeah, I know." I said. "What are you even doing here?" Kee asked. "Jay'el said he was making pie," I replied. "Oh yeah, Callum and I ate it all. Sorry bro." She told me. I whined. "That's not fair. You fat a.sses didn't save me a slice at all?" I asked. "Nope. Our fat a.sses ate the whole thing." Kee said with a shrug. "She's lying." Jay'el said as he walked into the dining room with a plate holding a huge piece of apple pie. "Fu.ck yes!" I said as I dug in. Maybe I should save some for Karla. She'd love this stuff. Plus, she comes back tonight. I can't wait to see her. She's been on this damn mission for two weeks. Our first mission apart. "I didn't know you had such a huge crush on Karla," Kee said. I started choking on my food. "Great, your going to kill him." Jay'el complained. Jay'el slid me a glass of milk, which I downed all in one go. "Who is Karla? He asked. "She's a Witch that grew up here. She and Axton have been friends since they were kids. Karla is in the BOC, she's a great fighter. She also, is waiting for her mate," Kee answered him. "Oh, she sounds cool." He replied. "She's literally the coolest person I know," I said. Jay'el raised a brow at me. "What?" I asked. "You like her a lot," he replied. I shrugged. "I know it'll never happen. She's waiting for her mate," I said. "You should tell her how you feel," Jay'el said. "Don't tell him that." Kee complained. "Why?" Jay'el asked. "Because he's supposed to wait for his own mate," She stated. Jay'el waved her off. "Trust me, it will eat at you if you don't tell her. I'm not saying you guys have to be together, but at least you'll get it off your chest." He told me. I finished chewing my food while I thought about what he said. "You really think it's a good idea?" I asked. "No." Kee said. "Yes," Jay'el said at the same time. "What if it ruins our friendship?" I asked. "That won't happen." Kee said. "How do you know?" I asked her. "Because Karla loves you. Like a brother. She might need space after, but you guys will always be friends." She told me. "Alright, well, I'll think about it." I said. "Don't you want to wait for your mate?" Kee asked. I rolled my eyes. "You're just as bad as Mom and Relly. I should have asked Mo. She would tell me to fu.ck whoever I wanted. Screw mates." I mumbled. "Mo also has visions of the future, and knows her mate is going to be an a.sshole." Kee said. "Whatever," I said. It's not like I want to fu.ck every person I see. I've been curious like any other 24-year-old, but.. I don't know. I have this big feeling that I should wait for my mate. But I still have a crush on Karla. I couldn't help it. If Karla happened to return my feelings, would we sleep together? Would I kiss her? And love her the way I'm supposed to save for my mate? We should just wait for mate. Raif, my wolf said. Let me at least tell Karla. I replied. Raif huffed. Our mate is waiting for us. He said. How would you know that? I asked. Who wouldn't wait for us? He replied confidently. I rolled my eyes. And they say I'm cocky. I muttered. "I guess tonight is the night to tell her though, right?" Kee asked. "Aren't you going to the Fae realm tomorrow?" "Yeah, Aunt Lenny wants me to visit since I don't have any missions right now. Tia approved it. I'll only be staying a few nights. I'm excited though. That realm is like in the middle ages or something. I love the outfits. Especially those dresses that make the chicks' t**s pop up," I said. Jay'el snorted as Kee gave me a bored look. "You're ridiculous," Kee told me. I only shrugged. "Guess I should get going." I said as I got up. "Thanks for the pie Jay'el. Kee, it was a displeasure as always sis." I teased. "Wait," Jay'el said. "Let me get you a piece for Karla." ***************************** I knocked on Karla's bedroom door. I'm so glad that she decided to stay on campus in between missions instead of going back to her coven. Life would not be the same without her. Karla is our best friend. Raif said. Yes she is. I replied. Not our lover. He stated. I ignored him. A moment later, the door opened, and I looked down into Karla's bright blue eyes. All of my worries and anxiety immediately left my body. How can I not develop feelings for her when she makes me feel this way? Just wait until we meet our mate. Raif commented. Just like that, I'm annoyed again. "Are you going to say something, or just stand there like an i***t?" Karla asked. "Uh, hey." I replied lamely. Karla chuckled at me, and turned around to walk into her room. I walked in after her, and shut the door behind me. Why do I suddenly feel so nervous? Because we are about to admit to feelings we don't have. Raif said. I do have feelings for her. I argued. No we don't. He argued back. "What is going on with you?" Karla asked, "You and Raif arguing?" "How do you always know?" I asked. Karla shrugged. "I just know you. You're my best friend." She said. See, friends. Raif said. I ignored him. "How was the mission?" I asked Karla. "It was alright. Nothing major happened." She replied as she continued to unpack her suitcase. "Oh, I brought you this." I said as I shoved the plate at her. "Jay'el made it." "Ouu, pie." She said happily. "Who's Jay'el?" "He's one of the Angels that live here now." I grumbled. Karla chuckled. "You don't sound too happy about that," she said. "Well, they aren't bad. It's just.. awkward sometimes." I said. "I would expect that, considering who you are," she replied. "Because I'm a Morningstar," I mumbled. I've hated being a Morningstar my entire life. I was a lot angrier about it when I was younger. I've mellowed out a bit as I got older. Still, it's hard being a Morningstar. People either absolutely hate us for no reason at all. We get bullied, and can't even do anything about it. All while everyone else gets to say whatever they want to us, and treat us how they please. There are others who aren't like that thought. Most of those people are just looking for power. Either as a mate, or to have a powerful connection in the supernatural world. I learned from an early age that everyone has an ulterior motive. Except for Karla. She never cared about my name, or what I am. That's what I've always loved about her. Love in a friendly way. Raif chimed in. What will it take for you to shut up? I grumbled. "Oh, this is so good. I should befriend Jay'el too." Karla said. Jealousy instantly struck me. See, I told you I have feelings. I told Raif. Maybe you are jealous over the pie. He suggested. The pie? Really? I asked unbelievably. Raif just shrugged back at me. "Seriously, what are you and Raif arguing about?" Karla asked. "Uh..." I trailed off awkwardly. Karla raised a brow at me, and I cleared my throat. "Are you off for a while?" I asked her. "Yeah, Tia said it was time for me to take a long break. I've barely been off of missions since everything with Emi. I'm free for a whole month." She said, smiling. "Cool," I said. "Do you wanna come to the Fae realm with me tomorrow?" I asked. "The Fae realm? I've never been there. Are you going to see Lenny?" She asked. I nodded. "Now that she's the queen and all," I said with a laugh. Karla snorted. "It's so weird to think of her as a queen. I bet she's turning the whole kingdom upside down." She said. "Probably." I agreed. "So," Karla said. "You gonna tell me what you and Raif are arguing about?" She asked. I looked away from her, and rubbed the back of my neck. "Uhm, he doesn't agree with something that I want to do," I said awkwardly. "Oh man. What do you want to do?" She asked. I dropped my arm, and looked into Karla's bright blue eyes. "I love you." I blurted out. Great. Raif said bored. "I love you too, Ax," Karla said casually. Raif laughed. She thinks you mean in a friendly way. He snickered. Shut up. I bit out. "N-no. Karla, I mean.. I love you." I said. Karla gave me a confused look. I watched her face slowly fall as she realized what I was trying to say. My anxiety spiked the longer she just stared at me. "Say something." I demanded. "Uhm..." Karla trailed off. "Axton, you know that I'm waiting for my mate." She said. "I know." I said softly. "I just.. It's not like I was expecting anything. I just.. wanted to say it. W-we don't have to do anything about it." I said. "Then why say it at all?" She asked. That's what I'm saying! Raif agreed. "Jay'el said I'd feel better if I got it off my chest. Part of me.. probably hoped you felt the same way." I admitted. "Probably?" Karla asked. I didn't even know how to respond. "Look Ax, I love you. Like a brother. I don't.. have romantic feelings for you. But we are getting older.. Maybe we can.. go on a date or something when we get back from the Fae realm. Like you said, we don't have to do anything. We hang out all the time anyway." She said. "R-really?" I asked, shocked. This is a bad idea. Raif said. "Sure, why not?" Karla said. "Assuming neither of us meets our mates anyway." "I doubt I'll meet mine." I mumbled. "Why are you always like that?" Karla asked with a frown. "Like what?" I asked. "Like you'll never meet your mate." She said. Raif whined in my head. "I don't know what you mean," I said. Karla raised a brow at me, calling me out. "Maybe I don't want to meet my mate," I suggested. Again with that raised brow. "Fine, I'm scared to meet her," I admitted. "Why?" Karla asked. "Having your mate is-" "The best thing ever. Yea, yeah." I finished. "I just.. I'm a Morningstar. My siblings have had a hard time with their mates so far. Acaisia and Ahkari probably had the easiest time, and Acaisia almost died. What if my mate is scared of me? Or doesn't want me?" I asked. Karla slapped her hand on my shoulder. "Okay, first off, their bonds all worked out. Yours will too. You're a good guy Ax, your mate is lucky to have you." She said. "And secondly, stop being a pu.ssy. You little baby." She teased. I chuckled at her. See, Karla is our best friend. Raif said. I looked at Karla as she went on and on about me being a giant man-child. Yeah, I said. A friend I have a date with.
