The moment seemed too good to last. Calum's mom suddenly called us down for dinner just as my mom messaged me asking if I would be staying at Calum's. I replied yes before following downstairs. The food was delicious thanks to Joy's wonderful cooking. I volunteered to help wash the dishes, which I always did. That didn't stop Calum from passing by within earshot just to mumble, "Kiss up."
Joy and I made conversation while cleaning up. She asked about my parents, I told her everything at home was fine even though it really wasn't.
