Chapter 2: Blushes And Roses

1163 Words
I slammed my locker door shut, my German folder in hand. "Lucia." someone whispered into my ear. Suddenly I was frozen, I knew exactly who it was. "Parker." I whispered back. "We both know that I can't be here," he said. "But seeing you here was just far too tempting." I felt him step closer to me. I licked my lips and took a shaky breath. "Why can't you leave me alone?" "Why do I have this effect on you?" he came back with, his palm settling onto my side. My hand flew down towards his and clasped it. I turned around to face him. Wrong move. In the daylight of school I got a close up of his flawless face. Dark brown eyes, with a ring of honey-hazel around the pupil, hair the colour of dark chocolate that fell over his brows, a strong jawline, and delicious lips. I internally swooned. We all want what we can't have. But realistically, who wouldn't want Parker? Curse him for being so damned attractive. I remembered that it wasn't just Parker and I in these school corridors. "We can't be seen together." "You can't keep me away, Lucia," he said. "I'll climb through your bedroom window with roses if I have to." His lips coiled into a playful smile. "You can't get through the security around our house." I replied, crossing my arms. His eyes were alive with energy. "Challenge accepted." I rolled my eyes towards the ceiling. I was surprised when his lips collided with mine. Knees weak, I wrapped my arms around his neck for support and pressed myself into the warmth he gave off. With every second the kiss got better. I whimpered when he pulled away. "See you tonight." He whispered against my lips before quickly pulling away and heading to his own class. I looked around. Luckily, nobody was around to have seen us. I headed towards my class. "Sorry I'm late." I muttered as I entered the classroom, with every single pair of eyes falling on me. "Please tell me that," said Nicole as I took my seat next to her, at the side of the class. "Your lips are pink because of the new lipgloss you've got, which you're really looking forward to telling me about. And that it's nothing to do with Mr. Lachlan." I stopped with my head under the table, halfway through rummaging through my bag to get my books. Was it really that obvious? I could feel a blush sweeping across my cheeks. I popped up in my seat again, about to reply, but Nicole beat me to it. "And, please do tell me all about your brand new blusher! Though I think you've put a bit too much on." I shook my head, my straight brown tresses shrouding my face. "I haven't got any new makeup." I said. "Oh, Lucia." replied Nicole. "So, how's it going with Parker?" I suppressed a smile. "It's all getting too much. He's really serious about 'us', I think." "What a great arrangement," Nicole replied sarcastically. "He knows that there's high stakes with you two." "He's a very passionate lover." I mumbled. "And determined." Nicole commented. I toyed with the idea of telling her that he planned to climb through my bedroom window tonight. I shook off the idea. He probably wouldn't even come, anyway. But what if he did? All the ideas of what could happen danced through my mind, teasing my imagination. He must have plenty of tricks up his sleeve. I sighed, falling back into the boring German lesson. My eyes made their way across the beige carpet when I heard a rattle from my balcony. Parker stood in the doorway. My lips popped open as he stood in his jeans, a scratch on his jaw and a bouquet of red roses in his hand. I stood up from my seat, with homework sheets scattered around my feet, and made my way towards him. "I told you I'd come, sweetie." was all he said. I paused for a moment before laughing. He grinned at me before raising the bouquet up between us, offering me it. I cast my eyes to the floor, before taking the bouquet. He'd got me a dozen red roses. Their petals were fresh and delicate, fragrant. I couldn't help smiling like a fool. He'd got me a dozen red roses! My eyes met his again and his smile broadened. "I can't believe it." I said quietly. "Then you're not going to believe a lot of what I do lately." he said. His hand gently pushed the roses down, he closed the gap between us. He was looking down on me when I looked upwards. Our gazes locked. He began leaning in to place his lips on mine but I spun on my heels. Having placed the roses on the edge of my bed and created some space between us, I wondered. "Why did you come?" "Because I told you I would," he said, smiling. "I'm a man of my word." I rolled my lips. "You don't have to be. I'm an Owell. I'm the enemy." "Just because you're the enemy," he said, taking a step towards me. "Doesn't change the way I feel about you." I sat down, crouching on the step that led up to the opening of my balcony. I was cautious with Parker's words. He had every reason to be lying. "I can't believe you." He took a seat next to me. "Please, give me a chance." He sounded more vulnerable now. He was opening himself up. "I'll do anything." I stretched my legs out. "Anything?" "Anything." Parker assured me. I sighed, and didn't reply. My eyes flickered towards him and he was watching me intently. "You're so cute when you're thinking." he said. All my worries disappeared at his trivial comment. "I'd return the favour," I said. "But.. you don't really think, do you?" He grinned as I teased him. "I'm very thoughtful, actually." I scoffed. "Yeah right." Suddenly, Parker was straddling me and was holding my arms above my head. "I thought to bring red roses, didn't I? And I was very thoughtful to avoid all the security." I rolled my eyes. "Alright, alright. You win." He leaned down, his forehead against mine. "Yay." he whispered against my lips, looking into my eyes. I felt out of breath. He began scattering kisses all along my jaw. With one hand still holding my wrists against the floor, his other hand found its way underneath the edge of my t-shirt. His fingertips trailed their way along my flesh. A moan escaped the back of his throat. "The things I'd do to you." he muttered in a husky voice that brought a rush of heat. "This isn't the best you got?" I said. He brought his face back up to mine and looked at me with lazy, lustful eyes. "It gets better." Then came a knock on the door.
