Edmund was moving the wounded soldiers into the infirmary and I was looking everywhere for Mother, the prison gate was opened a long time ago, and I hadn’t found her.
The other prisoners had been out but she wasn’t among them.
“Maybe you should go back to the prison yard and check, she might still be there helping the others out...” Jeema suggested without meeting my eyes, she had been fidgeting with her fingers when we met in the hallway.
