By the time we arrived back to the twenty seventh floor, I feel the need to rest after a long day but also the temptation of warm water against my skin before I sleep is too strong to ignore. I went to the bathroom and walk into the rainfall shower. The water flow freely above me, rinsing the reminder of tiredness. Soaking my hair and everywhere, the warm steam penetrating through every pore on my body to each bone inside of me. The sound of my phone from the bedroom got me ceasing possession of the relaxant feeling. With a frustrating groan I cover myself with a white towel and hastily approach my phone laying on the dressed queen size bed. On my phone screen, a picture of my mom kissing my temple while I hold on to my high school diploma on my graduation day, takes over. I slide on accept and press the object against my ear. "Daisy?" She skeptically calls. "Mom." "I've called you several times you didn't pick up, I was worried." "Sorry, I wanted to call you. I landed not long ago." I lied, well partly. With mom situation I should be on the phone with her often, instead of taking pleasure in my new environment and forgetting my sick mom is thousands of miles away from me. Alone with no one to look after her. "It took longer than expected, I hope you're good?" She queried. "We made some stops." That's actually true. Direct flight was too much for my budget. "I'm glad you've arrived safely." Mom quietly says. I know living her back in Hong Kong wouldn't be easy. Not that she has no friends or kind neighbors but mom and I had been together since day one. We've been through everything together. So now that we're thousands of miles apart and I know she's not getting any better, it feels so strange. "How are you?" I ask her. "Good, I decided to watch this show you insisted. The Witcher is it? It's quite good." She nervously chuckle and my heart crack in the middle. "Well, that's good to hear." My teeth dig into my lips, trying to suppress the burns in my eyes. "You've meet Riley?" She questions. "Yes, Uhm she sent someone to come pick me up at the airport. She's very nice and very pretty. I would send you pictures of us soon." I smile. Yes, my mom had known about my pen best friend ever since we stated sharing letters. It was why she pressed until I applied for SU full scholarship when Riley had suggested. But I accepted for some other reason. "Wonderful. I can't wait." "Have Mr Hui visited yet?" I curiously ask. "No, why?" "No, just wondering." "Daisy?" I giggle. "Seriously nothing." "I'm still suspicious. Anyway I think you should take a warm bath, you will feel more comfortable." Mom advised. "I just came out of the shower. Do you know I've showered and bath altogether yet I still feel a bit of sluggishness roaming inside my veins." I complain. "That's your laziness speaking." Mom humorously oppose. "You would be saying the same if you were in my state." I whine. "I doubt." "Seriously mom I am tired." "My dear, I'd be making you hot chocolate if you're here. Please go make some for yourself, okay?" With her words making meaning in my sense, my stomach begin to grumble. Realization hits me; I haven't eaten anything ever since I arrived here. "Okay." I agreed. With the towel that rest around my upper thighs I stalk to the kitchen to make some cereal. "I would talk to you later." Mom promised. "Alright, look after yourself for me." "I would baby, I love you." She whisper. "I love you too mom." I replied back before I hang up and sit the phone on the worktop. Grabbing a bowl from the cabinet, I heard the familiar sound of the elevator, alerting someone's arrival. To avoid any run ins, mostly in my half naked state. I hold on to my position and proceed to pour Cheerios in the mini bowl along with some milk for myself. Yet unfortunately, someone walk into the kitchen. Instinctively my eyes flies up to the person. Somehow the time manage to stop. Either I am imagining things or I went back in time! That's the easiest meaning to whatever's happening right now. With no doubt nor a second hesitation I know the resemblance. I know the modified frame with bewildered deep set of emerald green eyes mirroring my clouded brown ones. It was him, the first person whom made me view the world from a different perspective, the first person I trusted, relied upon and loved. The person I shared most of my childhood memories with. He was the boy next door. He was my best friend, my favorite partner in any situation. He was Kaiser Chandler. We stared at each other for the longest time, the universe seems to puzzle up the patches with every ticking second that passes. His chiseled frame anchored in height of at least six feet three inches, wearing denim pants and white button down shirt, he looked clean with his coiffed light brown hair. Although the confound expression on his face didn't last for long when he begin connecting pieces together until a scowl etched into his feature. His teeth's clenched together. "Kay?" Timidly, I whispered. I don't need no speech from him to know he despises me, The look on his face had already given me meaning to every emotion going through his head. The whole memories I've had with him, he had never looked at me with solely hatred and anger. I can see the pain, the loath and the regret all building into a single dagger in his intense gaze. The wild darkness in his eyes that had shield the soft emerald eyes held me captive and pinned me to my spot, I couldn't dare my self to move. His nose flared up, with every breath he takes in, while the infamous veins bulges from his neck. "Do not." He snarled in his now deep controlling voice; complete raspy and opposite of the familiar juvenile tone I used to know. Instantly my lungs deflated, my inside begin twisting painfully, I could feel my heart splitting in two that I almost miss the excited tone echoing in the silence. "Hey babe, you're back!" Riley's voice pulled me out from my immobilized state, I swallowed down the bitter lump in my throat and avert my welled eyes from Kaiser. With shaky fingers I tuck a strand of my damp hair behind my ear and lowered my eyes to the cereal that had become soggy. I struggle to push back the sound of kisses before me, taunting me in my psychological condition. "Clearly you've already meet." I sense footsteps slapping against the marbled floor until slender bare arms circles around my expose shoulders. "KC this is my best friend, Daisy." Riley cheerfully introduced us. She had no idea. I blinked away the tears and glance back at the mute structure, distantly staring back at me. In the depth of his eyes I couldn't find the boy next door. Instead, he was replaced with KC; the dashing young man with everything he desires. The man whom is completely in love with my best friend. My bones weakened, my heart throbbing against my ribcage. Mentally, I willed this to be a nightmare.
