Chapter Three
LEYNOU ARRIVESPang continued with her normal activities the following day and even weeks. She was adamant that her pregnancy would neith disrupt her life nor those of her family. She worried some people by her determination to keep working in the field.
Then, one day, in her seventh week, she was so violently sick, that she didn’t even have time to get out of bed. She was very angry with what she described as her ‘weak body’.
“Do you remember what Aunty Da said the other day, Maar? She said that the more violent the morning sickness, the higher the chance that the baby would be a girl.
