CHAPTER 6 – Thank you for killing him

2062 Words
Olivia’s POV The ache that plagued my whole body started slowly reducing. Every inch of my body was numb because of the immense pain I went through. My memory was hazy and I had no idea who took me and where I was. The possibility that I was dead also crossed my mind since I couldn’t feel my pain anymore. Still, I wanted to confirm it. I needed to open my eyes and find out where I was. “Olivia, come and have your breakfast, sweetheart!” The familiar, loving voice of my mother pierced my ears. Am I back in my small home with Mom? Did I escape myself from Fedrick’s wicked web and return home? It makes sense because it was the warmest place on this earth that could soothe me. But, Fedrick said that she died, then how can this be possible? “Mo…m?” I gathered my words with great difficulty. Yet, I was not sure if she had heard me. Instantly, I knew that I needed to quickly get up and prepare myself to see her. After all, it was after many years that I heard her voice and could finally see her again. My heart decided that whoever rescued me from Fedrick’s cruelty must be rewarded. Come on, Olivia, get your lazy a*s up! So, with a skip in my step, I got out of bed and to the bathroom. It was not a big, luxurious one like Fedrick had offered me, but at least, it didn’t suffocate me. “Coming, Mom!” I yelled out, convinced that she had heard me this time. “Come quickly, Olivia. I have a surprise for you,” she replied. Mom has a surprise for me? Wow, this is going to be an awesome day. My heart jumped up and down with joy. I was the one who should have given her a surprise, instead, she was giving me one. Is it my birthday? I couldn’t remember what day it was and when I looked around for a calendar or my phone, I couldn’t find either one of them. Never mind, Olivia, just run and go see Mom! Agreeing with my subconscious mind, I opened the door of my room and started to run, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t. My feet were moving, but the ground beneath me wasn’t. No, no, no! What is happening to me? After many years I can finally see her again, but something is not right! Come on, legs, move! What’s wrong with you? “Olivia, if you’re not coming down soon, I am leaving shortly,” her voice echoed in my ears. Shit! Damn you, legs! Come on, I need to see my mom. Help me walk towards her. With all my might, I slowly started to walk even though it looked like a snail would have been faster than me. Eventually, I managed to reach the staircase. I was certain that I wouldn’t be able to catch my mom before she left if I kept walking at that speed. So, I decided to roll down the staircase. I was going to see her, no matter the cost. “Mo…m! Wait…I am coming!” I yelled out to her as soon as I landed at the foot of the staircase. But, all I could see was her back facing me. “Olivia, I am getting late, sweetheart. I need to leave now.” Mom picked up her bag from the table and slung it on her shoulder. “No, no! Mom, wait! I’m coming! Wait for me.” I reached out my arm to her but she kept walking forward without turning back. Soon, she reached the front door and opened it. Finally, she turned around towards me and revealed the kind face I had missed for so long. “Mom, please! Wait, I am almost there. Don’t leave me, Mom,” I begged as tears ran down my face. But, all she did was smile. As usual, no matter whatever happened in her life, she always maintained a smile on her face. Even though she was beaten severely, she constantly wiped away her tears and smiled at me. “Olivia, you are safe now. Stay happy forever, my love!” she expressed and blew me a flying kiss. “Wait, don’t go, Mom! Please, I can’t stay without you. Please don’t leave me, M…oom!” I screamed at her and pleaded with her to stay. Yet, it didn’t affect her. Instead, she continued walking out the door before shutting it behind her. Through the small stained window in the door, I watched as she kept growing further and further away from me. “No, no, nooooo! Why did you leave me, Mom?” Slumping down to my knees, I began crying badly. But then, all of a sudden, I felt a warm hand wiping away my tears. “Hey, hey! Wake up,” I heard the same deep voice that I heard previously in my torturing cell. Wake up? What did he mean by wake up? Am I asleep? “It’s okay, you were just dreaming. Now, slowly wake up.” The soft whispers of the man were like a melody to my ears. It was the first time I had ever heard a man talking to me in such a gentle and kind manner. “But... Mom…” I stuttered. “Shhh…. just slowly open your eyes. It was just a dream,” he said. My eyeballs slowly moved around and my eyelids finally decided to open. But, they quickly closed because of the brightness of the room. So, I shut them for a while and then carefully opened them again. This time it felt like the lights were dimmer. My eyelids blinked a few times before I turned my head and eyes towards the source of the voice. That was the very first time I saw him! I never thought that his pair of icy-blue eyes would be the ones that I would look at my entire life. He was sitting close to me on the bed, looking directly at my face. His stubborn hair had fallen to his forehead and his eyebrows narrowed when he realized that I was scanning his face. In short, he was the most handsome man I had ever seen in my life. “Wh..ere am I? Who are you?” I roamed my eyes around the room. It was a huge bedroom with wooden furniture as well as light green and white interiors. The bedroom was almost the size of my family home. “You are far away from Fedrick’s hands. For your kind information, he is dead. Now, before I tell you anything else, I need to confirm something. Are you his wife? His secret wife that no one has ever seen?” he asked, kneeling on the bed. “Fe...drick is dead? Did you kill him?” I demanded, gulping back with terror. It was then I realized that he was indeed the person who saved me from the torturing cell. “Yes, I pulled the trigger that ended his life and I regret nothing. In fact, I’m glad. Now, enough of that, tell me quickly, are you his wife?” The mysterious stranger moved closer to me in intrigue while I was still on the bed, lying on my back. “Yes, I was his wife.” His face immediately brightened with a victory smirk. “Now, tell me, where am I?” I questioned, still confused about my new situation. The man’s lips curved into a malicious smirk, “You are in our boss’s mansion. Since you have declared yourself to be Fedrick’s wife, we know that you must hold some important information.” “I know nothing about his businesses. Please let me go, I need to go back to my house.” My voice was soft as I pleaded with him. But, because of my dry, dehydrated throat, I started coughing. I gulped down my saliva and looked around for a glass of water. “Here, drink this.” I was surprised when he offered me a glass of water. I grabbed it from his hand at once and emptied the entire glass. His actions astounded me because it was after many years that someone was offering me something affectionately. “Thanks.” I nodded with gratitude. The stranger’s forehead furrowed, “Listen—” But, before he could say anything, I shot him with another question, “How many hours was I out for?” “Hours? You were unconscious for more than three days!” My eyes widened at his answer. “I spent three days on this bed?” I whispered in shock before looking down at my dress. The blood-soaked dress I was previously wearing was missing and instead, I was wearing a simple cream-colored dress. All my wounds were bandaged and they didn’t hurt as much as they used to. “Who changed my dress?” I blurted out and shot him a look that meant ‘don’t tell me it was you who changed them’. “It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are Fedrick’s wife and that I want some information from you,” he replied with a serious face. “What information?” My eyebrows arched with curiosity. The man scoffed, “Well since you are his wife, you must know all his dealings and his secrets. Just spill them out to me and I will let you go.” “Listen, I don’t know anything about his—” But, he cut me off rudely, “I know that eventually, you will give it to me. Don’t make me do it the hard way.” “I know that no one would believe what I am saying is the truth. Only I know how terribly I spent all those years with that monster,” I said, lowering my voice. The horrible memories of every moment I spent in that hell started to flash in my mind. “Listen, lady, I don’t care about your past, okay? Just give me the information I need and you are free to walk away from here,” he responded coldly. But how can I make him understand that I know nothing about Fedrick’s business? All he did was torture me for my father’s debts. I knew that no matter how many times I denied any knowledge of Fedrick’s secrets, the stranger was not prepared to accept it. Letting out a sigh, I looked at him as he sat close to me and stared at me without blinking. Ughhh, what a jerk! Why is he looking at me like that? “I know that you won’t believe whatever I say, so it’s useless to talk to you. I need to go to the bathroom,” I said and removed the duvet which was covering me. However, before I knew it, at the speed of lightning, he pinned me to the bed and hovered above me. I didn’t know what was happening and what was going to happen. His icy-blue eyes just gazed deeply into mine. Stunned by shock, my heart started to beat rapidly and my breath started to quicken. “Listen to me very carefully, lady, don’t make me repeat myself. I detest it. Now, just because I showed you some respect and gave you some space, don’t think that I am soft. You don’t know me.” He gritted his teeth and I could finally see his true self. The realization struck me like lightning and my eyes widened. Our faces were only a few centimeters apart and our bodies were almost touching, increasing the tension between us. Terror filled me, making me shiver. My lips started trembling as I gulped hard and my eyelids fluttered. When I remained silent, stunned with fear, he lowered his face to my left ear and whispered in it, “So, you better tell me the truth.” His hot breath fanned against my earlobe and the bare skin of my neck, making goosebumps rise over my body. Knowing that I was cornered and still in danger of my life, I knew that there was no hiding from him. “Thank you for k... killing him!” I finally blurted out.
