Brandi studied Zach's expression, but she couldn't read it. Had she done something wrong? She'd thought it a nice gesture, but if he didn't want it then he could starve if he wanted. She turned away, refusing to think she'd made the wrong choice. She took a bite of her cake and enjoyed the chocolate dancing across her tongue. It had the right level of bitter and sweet. If Zach didn't want to appreciate her gesture she didn't care. He sat down in his chair facing her. “Thank you. That was thoughtful. He took another stab at it, eating it as if someone would take it from him. Her gaze was drawn to his throat as he swal
