CHAPTER 31

“LAWRENCE, DEAR! I miss you!” A sophisticated woman came running towards Lawrence.

“s**t!” At that moment, Lawrence could only think of escaping, but before he could escape, Sienna, an Alpha’s daughter that he met when he was traveling, blocked his way and embraced him.

He saved her from the Rogues before. Then Sienna was always following him. He talked to Sienna’s father to discipline his daughter. Natigil naman ng ilang taon ang pagsunod sa kaniya ni Sienna at ngayon naman, nandito na naman ito.

Lawrence, remember our mate. Paalala ni Lucas.

Shit!

“Ms. Ortiz, let go of me.” Walang emosyong saad ni Lawrence.

Umiling si Sienna. “No, I miss you, dear. Ilang taon rin tayong hindi nagkita – “

Napatigil sa pagsasalita si Sienna nang pwersahang tanggalin ni Lawrence ang braso niya na nakayakap rito.

Sienna looked hurt, but Lawrence ignored it. Mas hindi niya kakayanin kung ang mate niya ang nakita niyang nasasaktan. He could bear to see another girl hurting, but not his mate. His mate was precious, and he didn’t want to see her hurting because of him.

Lawrence took a step back. “Ms. Ortiz, we are in the palace. Please, behave yourself. People who might see us will think that we are having an affair.”

Sienna pouted. “But you don’t have a wife. It’s not an affair.”

“I have already found my mate, Ms. Ortiz. So, behave yourself, or else I will punish you.” Malamig na saad ni Lawrence.

“M-mate?” Sienna felt her world collapse. Parang pinagsukluban siya ng langit at lupa sa kaniyang narinig. Lawrence found his mate?

“Yes, I have found my mate and we are living a harmonious life. So, I hope that you won’t mess with us.” Sabi ni Lawrence.

Kumuyom ang kamay ni Sienna. “But I love you! I even rejected my mate just for you!”

Napatigil ang lahat dahil sa pagsigaw ni Sienna.

But Lawrence showed no care. “You rejected your mate because you chose it. It has nothing to do with me.”

Napasang-ayon naman ang mga nakarinig sa sinabi ng Alpha King.

“Lawrence!”

“Ridiculous!” Cade pointed to Sienna. “He was our Alpha King. You don’t have the right to call him by his name!”

Tumulo ang luha ni Sienna. “Lawrence, I love you with all my heart. I did everything to convince my father to be with you.”

“Your father is a good man.” Sabi ni Lawrence. “And I told him before that I didn’t have any plan of taking you in. The only woman who could be with me and be my Queen is my mate and no one else.” Aniya.

“You are heartless!”

“Say whatever you want.” Walang pakialam na saad ni Lawrence. Tumingin siya kay Cade. “Tell Samuel to send Ms. Ortiz back.”

Yumukod si Cade. “Yes, Your Majesty.”

Lawrence planned to leave the training ground, but before he could take a step, a set of arms were wrapped around his waist. Napangiti na lamang siya saka umikot paharap kay Blythe. Hinalikan niya ito sa nuo.

“I heard that you were here.”

“It’s still early. Wala kang klase?” tanong naman ni Lawrence.

Ngumiti si Blythe. “Our professors had an emergency meeting, so I came home. Your promise. It’s time to fulfill it now.”

“The spar?” tanong ni Lawrence.

Tumango si Blythe. “Hmm.”

“Okay. Let’s do it.”

But Blythe stilled when she saw the woman who hugged Lawrence earlier, and it didn’t sit her well. Actually, kanina pa siya nasa training ground at narinig niya ang lahat ng sinabi ng babae at ni Lawrence. She just used her magic power to become invisible.

Unbeknownst to Blythe, Lawrence felt her presence but acted like he didn’t know Blythe was there. He wanted to see her reaction. And deep inside, he wanted to see if his mate was jealous, but looking at her now… she didn’t seem to be jealous.

Tumikhim si Blythe. “Who is she?” tanong niya kay Lawrence saka ito tinaasan ng kilay.

Lawrence looked at his mate. Is she asking… or is she jealous now?

“She’s a friend.” Tugon niya.

Tumaas na ang dalawang kilay ni Blythe.

Lawrence gets it. He cleared his throat and wrapped his arms around his mate’s waist. Then he whispered into her ear, but he knew that everyone could hear him because they all had sharp hearing. “Do you want to know her?”

“Of course.”

Lawrence sighed. “Okay.” He gently pulled Blythe towards Sienna. “Ms. Ortiz, this is my mate, Blythe Davis. My Queen, this is Sienna Ortiz.”

Inilahad ni Blythe ang kamay kay Sienna. “Hi. Nice to meet you.”

Tinignan ni Sienna ang kamay ni Blythe. Hindi niya tinanggap ang kamay nito. Hindi siya naniniwala na nahanap na ni Lawrence ang mate nito. But seeing her right now made her believe that Lawrence had really found his mate. Seeing Lawrence’s mate, even if she’s a woman herself, she couldn’t help but to be amazed and admire the beauty of Blythe. She looked like a simple woman, and yet she was elegant.

But no, hindi siya magpapatalo.

With no word, Sienna left.

Nakahinga naman ng maluwang si Lawrence nang umalis na si Sienna.

“She likes you.” Sabi ni Blythe.

“I don’t like her.”

“I know.” Ani Blythe. “I can see it.”

Kumunot ang nuo ni Lawrence. “You’re smart, baby. You know that she liked me.”

“I am no longer the woman who knew nothing about love.” Sabi ni Blythe saka napabuntong hininga. “I can see in her eyes that she likes you. I feel guilty about her.”

“Guilty? Why?”

“Because I am selfish in keeping you,” Blythe said.

Nagulat si Lawrence sa sinabi ni Blythe pero mas nagulat siya nang marinig ang kantyaw ng mga kasama nila sa training ground.

Blythe just blushed.

Natawa na lang ng mahina si Lawrence. Gusto niya ang ganitong side ni Blythe. She was expressing herself now. This is what he wants. To see his mate expressing her feelings and not suppressing it.

“So, how about we spar? They wanted to see it.”

Napatingin si Blythe sa mga kasama nila sa training ground. She smiled and nodded. “Okay, let’s spar.”

The people on the training ground cheered as if they had won victory.

“Wait for me. I need to change my clothes.”

Tumango si Lawrence. “Okay.”

Umalis si Blythe para magpalit ng komportableng damit saka siya kaagad bumalik sa training ground. Nagulat siya nang makitang rumami ang mga tao sa training ground. Even servants and other pack members were on the training ground.

“Just let them. They wanted to watch us.” Sabi ni Lawrence.

“Then I should win,” Blythe said with determination.

Blythe and Lawrence stepped up onto the wooden platform stage.

Humugot ng malalim na hininga si Blythe. Ito ang unang beses na ibang tao ang ka-sparring niya. And she was honored that an Alpha King like Lawrence would spar with her. That meant Lawrence didn’t think of her a weak woman.

“I should win this,” sabi naman ni Lawrence. “Nakataya dito ang dignidad ko.” Aniya na ikinatawa ng mga nanonood sa kanila.

Nagkibit lang naman ng balikat si Blythe. Inayos niya ang manggas ng suot niyang damit. Tumaas ang sulok ng labi niya saka mabilis na sinugod si Lawrence.

Mabilis namang umilag si Lawrence.

And that’s where the spar between the Alpha King and Luna Queen started. Walang gustong magpatalo sa dalawa. Pareho silang magaling makipaglaban. Though Blythe has never been into any combat fighting before, because she always used her sword when fighting, nasasabayan niya ang bawat galaw ni Lawrence. She could keep up with Lawrence's speed.

Habang ang mga tao sa training ground ay namamangha sa galing ng dalawang makipaglaban.

But even if Blythe was Lawrence’s mate, Lawrence showed mercy but not attacking aggressiveness, but instead, he spars with his mate according to Blythe’s strength. Ngunit hindi naglaon ay ginamit na niya ang buong lakas niya upang labanan si Blythe pero ganun pa rin, nakakasabay pa rin si Blythe sa bawat galaw niya.

Napabuga naman ng hangin si Cade. “This is not sparring.” Sabi niya saka napatingin sa suot na wristwatch. “Their majesties have been fighting for thirty-minutes now. Hindi pa ba sila pagod?”

Natawa naman ng mahina si Liam. “Parang ako pa nga ang pagod habang nanonood sa kanila. See them… walang gustong magpatalo. You’re right, this is not sparring anymore. They both wanted to win. That’s why no one wanted to surrender.”

“Ahmm, they are mates, right?” tanong naman ni Samuel.

Cade sighed. “You know His Majesty. He treated women equally, and he was doing it to Her Highness. He wanted Her Highness to win the sparring by her strength against him.”

“His Majesty was thoughtful.” Ani Liam.

Napatango na lang si Cade habang hindi inaalis ang tingin sa wooden platform stage.

Lawrence knew that Blythe was already tired, but even though she was tired, she wouldn’t stop. She wanted to win. Aniya. But he couldn’t let his mate collapse in exhaustion.

Then suddenly, Blythe stopped attacking Lawrence. She doesn’t want to disappoint the people watching them, but she’s tired already, and she’s famished.

Lawrence immediately walked towards his mate and supported her. “You’re tired. Let’s stop now.”

Blythe pouted at Lawrence. “I’m hungry too.”

Hindi napigilan ni Lawrence ang sarili na matawa dahil sa sinabi ni Blythe. Pinangko niya ito at agad naman itong yumakap sa leeg niya. “You shower first, then we’ll eat and rest afterward.”

Tumango si Blythe saka humilig sa balikat ni Lawrence.

Their audience gave way to the King and Queen.

Lawrence and Blythe left the training ground and went to their room.

Blythe took a shower and wore clothes inside the bathroom. Alam niya kasing nasa loob ng kwarto si Lawrence at hindi nga siya nagkamali dahil paglabas niya ng banyo ay nasa loob ng silid si Lawrence. Pero hindi kay Lawrence natuon ang atensiyon niya kundi sa pagkain na nasa trolley.

“Kumain ka na, Baby.” Sabi ni Lawrence.

“How about you? Kumain ka na ba?”

Ngumiti si Lawrence. “You eat. Hindi pa naman ako gutom. Shower lang ako.”

“Oh.” Then Blythe started to eat.

Pumasok naman si Lawrence sa banyo para maligo.

Gutom si Blythe kaya kain lang siya ng kain. Pagkatapos niyang kumain, inilabas niya ang trolley pero may kasambahay pala na nakaabang sa labas ng silid at kinuha nito ang trolley mula sa kaniya. Blythe thanked the maid and went back inside the room.

Napagod siya sa pakikipag-sparring kay Lawrence kaya naman tinamad na siyang magsuklay at magpatuyo ng buhok. Basta na lang siyang nahiga sa kama at agad na nakatulog.

Napailing naman si Lawrence nang makalabas siya ng banyo at nakita niyang natutulog na si Blythe na basa ang buhok nito. “I should scold her later.” Aniya saka nagsuot ng damit.

Then inayos ni Lawrence ang pagkakahiga ni Blythe sa kama saka siya na ang nagpatuyo ng buhok nito gamit ang blower. After taking care of his mate, he left the room and went to his study room to continue his work he had left earlier.
