My heart was hammering inside my chest. I was sure it would break through my rib cage and jump out. I could already picture it jumping around my car and me trying to catch it with my bare hands. My palms were sweating and there was a giant hole where my stomach should have been. I couldn't swallow and I couldn't breathe. My mouth was dry and no amount of water would help.
I was sitting in my car in front of the Windmill Inn for the last 5 minutes. My Haleybug was inside, but I couldn't force my legs to move. I couldn't go in. The fear that she would reject me paralyzed me completely. I couldn't even feel my legs. Every bad thought that I had was now on a very loud repeat in my mind.
