Figuring Things Out

Jackson Marissa: Things have changed. I need to speak in person. Having Yvonne drop me at your Lake House. Meet me there. I read her text over and over, smiling each time. She was coming back, and I couldn’t wait to see her. I had wrapped up training early, telling the others that it was just a well earned early release, and bolted from the pack training facilities. I grabbed my vehicle and headed out, stopping to grab some flowers for her, and getting there earlier than she had indicated she would arrive. I added the flowers to a vase and set it onto the table, hoping they would make her smile. I heard noises outside and went to the door, opening it as the portal behind her closed and she walked towards the house, coming up the stairs and stopping in front of me. “Hello beautiful.” I said and she couldn’t stop the smile that spread across her face. “You okay” I asked as I held the door open and she headed inside. “ I have to ask you something and I need you to be honest with me.” She said as she turned to face me, concern written across her face. “Of course.” I responded. “The witch hunters, they were on pack territory. Your pack territory, right?” I nodded. “Is your pack working with them?” She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Not at all.” I shook my head. “We had no idea they were even there. That house has been abandoned for years. I can’t say how they made it onto the territory unnoticed but we wouldn’t. We may not be natural friends but we have no reason to intentionally go after witches.” “You’re sure?” She looked uneasy. “Yes.” I stepped closer, cupping her cheek and looking down into her eyes. “What has you rattled little dove?” I asked gently. She smiled up at me, her eyes softening and a little sad. “My mother used to call me that.” She said quietly. “I havent heard it in awhile.” I smiled back and stepped closer, tucking a losse curl behind her ear, sparks tingling from where my fingertips lightly brushed along her cheek. “Talk to me.” I murmur. “It just seems odd they would feel safe on a wolf pacl territory if the wolves arent helping them. It seems like they felt safe moving through the territory. Something about this whole think doesnt make sense.” She shook her head slowly as she mulled over the thoughts in her head. “I am fairly confident we have not allowed them onto our territory but I will check into it. At best I would guess that they didn’t even realize where they were. Humans can be a little stupid, but witch hunters are a little extra stupid.” She chuckled as she turned away from me to head towards the living room, stopping as her eyes landed on the flowers on the kitchen table. “I wanted to give you something lovely when you go here.” I said as she turned her head to grin at me. “Mission accomplished.” She said as she walked over to them and bent over slightly to smell them. She touched the tips of her fingers on the roses lightly before stragihtening back up and headed towards the living room onvce more, touching my arm and thanking me as she passed by. I followed her as she settled onto the couch, taking the seat on the opposite end of her. She leaned forward taking a folded up page from her pocker and then laying out on the coffee table. “Look at this. These are the covens they have attacked and wiped out.” She pointed out the various points on the map. “This is my coven here.” She pointed at an area to the north, nestled in the forests. “They think they have wiped us out, we keep ourselves concealed. Then this, is the path theyve taken since their last attack.” She showed me the trail they were moving along. “These are three additional covens they havent gotten to but seem to be moving towards.” “I see what youre saying but the map is just a map to me.” I commented and she looked at me shocked. “You dont see lines?” I shook my head. “Do you have a marker?” “I think so.” I got up and headed into the kitchen, digging through a junk drawer until I found a red marker and brought it to her. She began to add circles and exes, then added lines indicating directions, until she was satisfied with her work before restarting her explanation. “The thing is the total they seem to be moving towards is twelve. When you connect all the points, and then look the center guess what youll find?” She circled the center and I leaned in to see where it was. “The house on my pack territory.” I concluded. “This is why you think wolves are helping them.” She shrugged shyly as she sat back. “I don’t mean it in an accusatory way.” She say quietly. “Listen to me.” I say as I moved closer and tucked my fingers under her chin, lifting her face so she can look at me. “Never feel like you can’t talk to me. About anything. Even if it concerns my pack.” I slid my hand along her jaw and cupped her cheek, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to her forehead. “I will always be a safe place for you.” I murmured as sparks tingled between us. “Jackson.” She whispered as her eyes locked onto mine. “Always.” I repeated stroking my thumb along her cheek. “ I am tied to you.” I remind her, the mate bond pulling stonger than ever. It was all I could do to not scoop her up and kiss her all over. “Jackson when you touch me, I swear its like lightning going through me.” She spoke softly and I smiled at her as I continued stroking her cheek softly. “The mate bond.” I murmur. “Mate bond?” “It means you are my fated mate. Fated by the moon goddess.” I explain. “I see.” She said. “And what if I don’t believe in this fate? Or what if I don’t want it?” “You don’t have to. Its a mate bond but it can be rejected.” I explain, feeling a tinge of sadness at the thought that she might want that. I withdrew my hand slowly, smiling at her as she seemed lost in her thoughts, her eyes focused past me. “Thoughts?” I asked. “I realize the mate bond is clearly a wolf thing and yet.” She paused for a moment then shifted her focus to me, her eyes locking onto mine. “Yet I do feel a pull toward you.” She finished. “I don’t know about the bond when your mate isn’t a wolf but that doesn’t not make sense. I mean, I can feel you everyday.” I explain and she furrowed her brow in confusion. “The bond. I can feel when you are sad or scared, or in pain. I can also feel when you are with someone else.” I hesitated the final part of what I was saying, realizing it may be a lot for her. She frowned a moment before bursting into laughter. “It wasn’t funny.” I protest as she snorted and I found myself smiling back at her. “No I know it’s not.” She sighed as she tried to calm herself down and stop laughing. “It’s just the idea of you feeling me when I have s*x with someone else!” She howled as her laughter increased once more. “Do you feel the orgasms?” She demanded as she snorted once more. “No it’s not like…will you stop laughing?” I rubbed my temple in frustration as she calmed down her laughter. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She took a deep breath, wiping tears from her eyes. “It’s more like a feeling of betrayal.” I explained. She squinted at me for a moment before moving across the couch, and shocked me as she poured herself into my lap, stradling my thighs with her hips, and took my face in her hands, looked into my eyes. “What about if I have s*x with you?” She asked before leaning in and closing her eyes, her lips pressing gently to mine, and my breath hitched as sparks shot through my entire body at her touch, my c**k growing hard in anticipation of her next move.
