Amelia His hand on my thigh was driving my need as his lips moves against mine, the sparks from our contact turning into the lightning as it raced through my body. I leaned into him, his tongue slipping into my mouth and I moaned softly. His hand dropped from my cheek, as he used both to grab my hips and pulled me into his lap, my thighs straddling him. As our kisses became more intense I ground my hips down against him, his erection pressing against me and setting my skin on fire. “Jackson.” I moaned and my eyes flew open as I realized I was dreaming about him. My ears strained against the silence as I tried to determine if I had been loud enough to wake him. Rolling out of bed I went into the bathroom and splashed my face with cool water, trying to settle myself down from the dream. After he had kissed me on the couch I quickly broke away from him and siad goodnight before leaving him on the couch and crawling into bed. I struggled to fall asleep and despite thinking I was finally going to get some rest, dreaming about him shook me out of sleep. I pulled on my clothes and slipped out of the room quietly, noting he was snoring away on the couch, and sneaking silently out of the house. I found an adirondack chair overlooking the water and curled up in it, watching the night sky fade into daylight across the lake. “Bad dreams?” His voice from behind me startled me and I jumped in my chair, turning to look at him. “No. No dreams at all actually.” I said a little too fast. He chuckled as he handed me a hot coffee, taking a seat in the chair beside mine and sipping his own coffee. “I had all kinds of interesting dreams.” He commented and I couldn’t help but wonder if he knew. “At any rate, what a beautiful morning huh?” “It’s like a whole different world out here.” I marveled as the woods nearby woke up with bird songs. We drank our coffee in silence as the sun rose, watching the water across the lake. I could have lost myself in this place, peace settling into my soul. My phone went off and I checked it, a text letting me to they were going to get me. “Yvonne is going to be here soon to get me home.” I said as I stood up to head inside and get my things together. He stood up and streched his hands over his head, letting out a yawn. Holding his hand out he took my mug and led the way inside, setting the cups into the sink. As I gathered my things and got ready for her to open the portal he came over to me. “Marissa I hate to think you will vanish on me again.” He said his eyes locking onto mine. “Give me your phone.” I hesitated but something im his eyes compelled me to listen and I handed it over. He typed in a few things before handing it back. A portal appeared in the corner and the witches were on the other side waiting for me. “Just reach out. Anytime. Please, I want to know youre safe okay?” I knodded as I took my phone, looking to see that he added his number. As I went through the portal I turned back, locking eyes with him as Yvonne closed it. I sat with the coven leaders and they talked about Coven Blue. They had gotten the entire coven out safely, setting the members up with our coven. Uncertain of when the hunters had intended to attack, it seemed that they would be integrated into our coven indefinitely. We discussed how to share space and tasks and then shifted to how to track down the hunters themselves and put an end to this all. As we wrapped up for the evening, I headed home and got settled into my own bed, stretching out under the blankets. After struggling to fall asleep I reached out for my phone and pulled up his contact info, debating texting him, then deciding to just send it. Marissa: Hey its Marissa. Jackson: Hey beautiful. You’re up late. Marissa: Seems like you are too since you answered so fast. Jackson: Pack meeting. The little fight you and your friends started caused some concern around here. My father is worried it might happen again. Did your friends make it out okay? Marissa: Yeah. They are here now. Our next concern is stopping the hunters entirely. Jackson: Sounds dangerous. Marissa: Yeah but it’s more dangerous to let them keep taking out coven after coven. Jackson: True. Still I hate to think of you chasing after these hunters. They almost had the drop on you last time. Marissa : Yeah. Thanks for that by the way. Saving me. Jackson: Anytime. Marissa: I should try to sleep. I will check in tomorrow. Good night Jackson. Jackson: Good night. Dream of me. Again. My heart stopped when I realized he had heard me after all as I set my phone back onto the table next to my bed. I had several dreams of Jackson that night. All of them stemmed from that kiss on the couch. I woke up after a restless night, longing to feel his lips again, his hands on my skin. I hopped into a cold shower before getting dressed in jeans and a t shirt and heading to meet with Yvonne and Ella again. “In all my time on this earth, I have never seen such an organized effort to eliminate the witches like this. Not since the witch trials has there been such systematic hunting. We have done everything we know to hide ourselves but they keep finding us anyways. Thanks to these Chaos Witches.” Yvonne sat and buried her head in her hand. For the first time in my life I saw the years weighing on her. I wanted to help but I was torn between the desire to avenge my mothers death and the need to leave it all behind. “We have to track down these witches and put an end to their hand in this. We do that and the hunters will lose their confidence. Then we can put them down as well.” Ella chimed in. “We do have an increaed concentration here with Coven Blue staying. We could find a way to increase our and enhance our collective magic. Channel that into stopping it.” I suggested. A collective murmur of agreement sounded through the room. My heart skipped as a text came into my phone and it took everything in me not to check it while plans were being discussed. Taking advantage of the murmur of various conversations I snuck a peek at my phone. Jackson: Good morning beautiful. Hope you slept well. I grinned in spite of myself and then force the smile from my face as I refocused on the group. “I think maybe I can work on tracking their movements using the map I took from their house.” I offered and Yvonne nodded in agreement. “You start there. I will work on creating a scrying method that will work with that map. We will reconvene this evening.” I agreed staning up and leaving the meeting. I headed to my house and sent him a quick text. Marissa: Slept fine. Busy day tracking hunters. I will reach out later. Jackson: Sounds good. Hope you dreamt of me. I giggled slightly before setting the phone aside and beginning to work with the map.
