Chapter 17

1420 Words

Wailea, Maui Approximately One Hour Later Away from the concerned eyes of his family, Ed sat stunned in his home office while Daniel quietly looked on. “I can’t believe it. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. Not at all,” Ed announced. His head leaning against the headrest while staring at the ceiling, he swiveled in his office chair back and forth. The movement was lulling his mind into a deeper form of concentration. A puzzle needed to be solved and Ed resolved to do so even if it took all night, possibly forever. Daniel was amazed. He hadn’t seen his fraternity brother this way even though he’d been supportive of Ed during extremely stressful times over the years: finals at UCLA, the loss of both his parents, the unexpected divorce from Sofia, and so many countless others.
