Ashton’s POV
If Judy weren’t a shy, married, and extremely kind-hearted woman, I would have thought she did what she did on purpose, but the truth is that I’ve never updated her on who my girlfriend is, so she assumed.
Vanessa is here, but she’s meeting with someone else on a private investment matter, one I want nothing to do with and will not be working on.
When Cori hung up on me, I practically ran down the service stairs to catch her, thinking that she would leave and take my future with her, but she was there waiting for me, and although what she’s wearing is casual, she looks absolutely stunning.
I can tell that she chose to dress up for this trip, and I repaid her by having her identity questioned, but her reaction isn’t what I thought it would be. I was fully prepared to beg, but Cori seems to be in the mood to be a jerk.
With no time, I offer to argue with her later, knowing that she needs to get her anger out of her system, or she’ll end up internalizing her stress and ignoring me. I’ve never done that, so I can’t relate, but I understand that it was a coping mechanism for the woman who grew up in less-than-ideal circumstances.
“I want half.” Cori is referring to my commission, which is shocking, but I know my girl, and even if I gave her a hundred dollars, she wouldn’t accept it, so I agree after getting over my initial stupor. "I'll allow this to slide just this once, but if something like this happens again, no amount of money will fix it.”
"You wouldn't even take it if I actually gave it to you." Cori needs to know that I’m not buying her little threat, but all she does is shrug, fully aware that I know money hunger isn’t in her personality.
"You're right, I wouldn't, but my agent will certainly collect on my behalf." She means Troy, and the way I gasped was so loud that I’m actually a little embarrased.
I know my brother, and he would absolutely collect on Cori’s behalf, so she’s not lying, but I still don’t like what she just did.
"Babe, I don't have time, but later, we're arguing about that statement."
“Fine by me,” she nonchalantly replies, walking toward the elevators without even waiting for me to point her in the right direction.
“You do know that was foul, right?” Cori responds by reminding me of why we’re having this conversation in the first place.
She’s absolutely right, but I’m just as petty as she is, so when we get upstairs, I loudly announce that my pregnant girlfriend, Cori Russo, is visiting with me for the first time. The woman is mortified, and because she doesn’t know where my office is, the only thing she can do is cling to me.
“Not so funny when someone uses one of your weaknesses against you, is it?” Cori does not like having too many people look at her.
She’s the type of woman who prefers to work in the background, but because of my declaration, everyone near us is staring, and she simply can’t take the undivided attention she’s getting right now.
It’s not something that has to do with her past, it’s more like a form of stage fright, so I don’t feel guilty, especially since it’s making her look like she can’t function without me.
It’s a huge ego boost to have such a beautiful woman clinging to my body in a room full of men who probably wish they could be in my shoes. It helps that I’m actually ecstatic about our twins, and I literally tell anyone who’s willing to listen about them.
“I’m telling your mother that you did that to me.” I kiss Cori’s cheek with a mischievous grin, grabbing her hand as I take her to Judy, the very guilty looking ‘troublemaker.’
Cori forgives her for her mistake immediately, and before I leave, I ask my secretary to make sure that my ONLY girlfriend is well taken care of, and undisturbed while she’s waiting. This is Judy’s chance to make up for her mistake, and knowing that Cori sympathizes with hard workers, I don’t think there'll be any lasting issues between them.
With Cori settled in, I head back to the conference room, feeling relieved now that I have what I need, and while my girl’s sh*t talking was cute and all, I do not like how she used my brother to wound my pride. It’s my own fault, but I am curious, so while he and I are scrambling to set up the presentation before the clients arrive, I ask him about it.
“I’m going to ignore that you actually needed to ask whether or not I’d work in my client’s best interest.”
“Cori is not your client.”
“She is a client under contract with me, and by law, I am responsible for her-...”
“Shut the hell up!” Troy starts laughing at my interjection, likely because he’s purposefully trying to be antagonistic.
“But on another note, Cori asked you for money?” I nod slowly, silently wondering if that's a good thing for me. “She must feel really comfortable with you right now.” For Troy to see it that way is promising, but once I give him context he cringes. “I don’t know how you keep up with your mess.”
My brother has only had one girlfriend before Julia, likewise, she’s only had one boyfriend before him. They've been together since, so they don’t have the problem of hurt feelings and exes the way I do, and that makes me wonder…
“Do you think Cori thinks I’m a slut?”
“Honestly, I don’t think she cares.” That sounds like my brother knows something more than he’s letting on, so I use my knee to knock into his arm as he’s bent in front of me. “I overheard something…”
The man tells me that Julia and Cori were having a conversation in which his girlfriend asked mine if she had any regrets about me.
Obviously, Cori has regrets, but it's not being pregnant by a ‘promiscuous’ male that bothers her most, it’s the fact that she feels like she’s cutting my ‘youth’ short.
“And before you go there; Cori was not hinting at the fact that she wanted to screw more people, she was more concerned that you hadn’t had your ‘fill.’” I blame myself for those thoughts.
I’ve told Cori that I’m too young to be a father, but I’m not sure that's what Troy's point is.
“You’re really thick,” my brother mocks, explaining it to me in terms I ‘can understand’
He says that what Cori meant was that she would rather me break up with her if I get bored. Apparently, he’s said similar words to Julia, not that he needed to, but my girlfriend and brother are both people who don’t do well with betrayal.
I understand the breakdown well, and I really hope that I can live up to Cori’s expectations, it's just that…
“I don’t think I’d be able to break up with her without feeling like sh*t.”
“Then save your d*ck for just her and you won’t have to.” I’m absolutely confident that I can do that, but before I can respond Troy adds another tip. “Just think about how you’d feel if she slept with another man while sharing a bed with you.” I would not like that, in fact, I would be livid, but I also know that Cori would never.
Cori’s POV
Ashton’s meeting is taking forever, but Judy is an extremely sweet and cute woman, so I’m not bored. She has reddish brown shoulder length hair, and she’s short, or maybe I just think that because I’m considered tall.
The woman has round framed glasses that remind me of Harry Potter, but I know that it’ll be rude for me to point it out, so I don’t.
I’m getting hungry, so she kindly offers to bring me lunch menus, and just in time because Ashton comes in wearing an exceptionally large grin that reminds me that we’re supposed to be arguing.
“I’m assuming you've got my money.” That makes Ashton scowl, and as Judy leaves, the man takes off his jacket and starts removing his tie. “What are you doing?”
“I’m celebrating.”
“No.” I try to walk around my boyfriend, but I’m slow, he’s strong, and we’re both weak when it comes to certain things. “Ashton… not here. Someone might catch us.”
“My love… This is my office, and as long as the door is closed, no one will even knock.” That’s good enough for me, so I allow Ashton to guide me toward his desk and help me onto it while simultaneously lifting my dress.
“Ashton…”
“Shh…” The man drops down to his knees, almost making me scream with what he’s doing, but he knows when to stop now, so before it becomes too much, he’s already positioning his erection at my entrance.
My stomach is huge, but I’m still very flexible, so Ashton is able to hold my legs up and open as he slowly moves in and out of me. It feels good, but I’m so nervous that I can’t really enjoy it the way he is.
The man knows exactly what I like, so he’s purposefully trying to make me moan loudly, knowing that I’m trying to be quiet.
If this is payback for joking about the money, then I’ll never do it again… unless we’re at home in our bed, then I’ll gladly accept whatever he gives me.
It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to have s*x with me on my back, and I can tell that Ashton is close, but just as he picks up his pace, someone knocks…
“I thought you said no one would come!” I whisper-shout, on the verge of tears because Ashton made a little too much noise with his release.
“They’ll leave.” I cover my face as Ashton steps away, pulling tissues out of a dispenser so that he can clean me up.
He doesn’t have a restroom in his office, so this is the best he can do, and all I can think is that my drive home is going to feel gross, but I don’t get to linger on that thought long because someone knocks again.
“Who the f*ck?” Ashton asks in an annoyed tone, still ignoring the person as he wipes his own middle clean.
“Maybe it’s Troy?” I whisper back, sliding off the desk to fix my clothing.
“He would never, nor would my father, and besides that, they’re out treating the clients to lunch. I came back to get a snack…” Ashton uses his knuckle to wipe the corners of his mouth, making me swat at his hand.
“Seriously? Can’t you see that I’m panicking? How can you joke around right now?”
“Because…” Ashton brings his face so close to mine that our noses touch, and I’m immediately pulled into his beautiful blue eyes. “I don’t care about anyone except you, and I want you to understand that. Everyone in my family knows better than to knock on that door right now, so whoever that is can wait.” I get that Ashton is trying to give me his undivided attention, but we’re at his place of employment.
Eventually, we’re decent enough for him to open the door, but there’s no one outside, so Ashton calls for Judy, who keeps a respectful distance from the entrance.
“Miss Dodson wouldn’t take no for an answer. I had to get someone else to help remove her from the area.”
“You see?” Ashton asks, looking back at me with a knowing expression. “It was no one important.” I have to stifle my laughter, kind of feeling bad for Vanessa, but I’m also feeling less worried. “Now, let’s leave; and you’re driving.”
