DION HALON CAHILL'S POV.
"What worries you so my friend?"
MATTHIAS asked as he sat beside me on the roof, I knew he had watched me carefully since I came back, Today started as a mundane one but now it took a drastic turn. I was the least bit excited for my day as a college professor but the day had other surprises, shocking me by bringing my mate back from the depths of the underworld.
I glanced at MATTHIAS, would he think me insane if I told him of the absurdity of today.
"I do not know where to begin"
I ran my hand through my thick raven black mane in distress, those green eyes that I loved centuries ago stared at me today, the only woman I yearned for and that I had watched die was standing before me.
"Talk to me Dion "
he paused, his violet eyes gazing deep into mine trying to find answers. Unbeknownst to him I was also trying to find answers to the hanging question that came in the form of my dearest mate.
"I met MAHALIA today "
He laughed but stopped when he gazed on my face and saw that they were no traces of joking in them. He stood abruptly to his feet and began pacing
"How sure are you Dion?"
He ruffled his hair and he continued to pace uncontrollable, his mind obviously running miles as I told him the information that plagued my day like a bad omen. He was too much of an overthinking, he was probably thinking of endless probabilities and sorting out the scenario that was closest to the situation at hand
"Very sure MATTHIAS, my primal being screamed mate when I saw her"
I said softly whilst looking down at the humans, I laughed when I saw a young child roll around on the grass, who would tell tye babe that I had buried my kind underneath that grass.
"You do not look happy Dion"
MATTHIAS finally calmed down, taking a seat beside me once again.
"She did not recognise me as her mate ."
I whispered while my red eyes roamed the ground below
"It had been centuries MATTHIAS, I doubt her soul will call for yours immediately"
I nodded as I remembered Flashbacks, she had remembered the last happy memory we had before all was lost, I closed my eyes fully immersing myself in that memory.
I could still remember the scent of the Chrysanthemums that mixed with her opoponax scent.
I could remember how her brown hair whipped side to side as she ran into the field, her beautiful tyrian purple dress enhancing the beauty that only she possesses.
The only difference was now her brown chestnut was a golden color, it suited her best.
"Do you think TAHLIA, is back as well"
I bit my lip, he was asking about his mate, she was the closest to MAHALIA, he was hoping that with my mates appearance, his would comeback as well.
" Even if she came back, I am sure she would despise my existence"
I knew the guilt of their deaths weighed heavily on matthias heart, he was supposed to protect them while I went to battle, but his deep devotion to me had made him choose between his mate and me, in the end he chose the latter.
"Tis my fault as well MATTHIAS, I left for battle"
He nodded, no matter how much I assured him and tried to alleviate his guilt, his pain still held him captive.
We sat in silence before leaving the room going back into the mansion. It was no secret that I had acquired wealth during the course of my years on earth, I had furbished this mansion with a substantial amount of money, developing it to suit my taste. The dark oak panelled wall suiting my grey taste gave the mansion a dark grey ambience.
"Have you decided on what you would like to do MATTHIAS."
He gave a grin and I scoffed knowing that he was up to no good. MATTHIAS was a hundred years younger than me, he still possessed the childish glee, he had since he turned ages ago
" I think a construction worker "
I rolled my eyes, going to the fridge that was stocked heavily with bloodbags, I picked two and threw one at him. I watched him as he bit into the bag hungrily, his violet eyes brightening as he fed, I shook my head at him and threw another bag at him, he smiled sheepishly and I scoffed at him, taking a seat infront of him
"You were a construction worker, last time we were among humans, think of something better."
He removed his fangs from the bloodbag, feeling the rush as he finished feeding.
"What do you suggest I do your highness"
I tutted looking at him, it had been a long time since I was referred to as my title, maybe since it had been centuries since I returned home.
"Put those historian skills of yours to good use."
"I do not want to be in a class with bratty human children"
I laughed as I sipped from my blood bag
"I wasn't giving you a choice MATTHIAS, you start work as a sophomore history professor tomorrow "
His eyes flew open and he stared at me
"I hadn't a choice In this matter, now did I Dion?"
" NO, you don't MATTHIAS"
I chuckled as I saw him glare at me, I picked up the remainder of the blood bag, taking small sips as I walked up to my bedroom. I lay on my bed letting sleep consume, the day had taken a toll on me.
But as I drifted into unconsciousness, a chilling breeze swept through my room, causing the window to creak open. I jolted awake, my senses on high alert. Something was wrong.
I sat up, peering into the darkness, and that's when I heard it - a faint, yet strong echoing through the halls of the mansion. The sound sent shivers down my spine, a foreboding sense of danger seeping into my very bones.
Without hesitation, I shot out of bed, going to answer the door as the incessant knocking continued . As I stepped into the hallway, the sound became deafening, filling every corner of the mansion with its haunting presence.
I threw the door open, irritated to whoever had dared disturb my peace.
As I opened the door my eyes locked on forest green eyes that were twinkling with rage.
I dropped my hand from the doorknob
"Mahalia"
I whispered……
